    TSR Archive Site

There is also RPGGeek, the younger sibling of Boardgamegeek, which contains an ever-growing database of RPG items for all sorts of games, including D&D. Their database for all D&D editions is quite complete, so far as I can tell - see an example: Palace of the Silver Princess.

    TSR Archive dead (?)

I can also suggest the RPGGeek database as an excellent resource for finding games and supplements, not only for D&D but other RPGs. The site is certainly not complete, but D&D is quite well-covered, and users are encouraged to add to the database.

Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder and Mass Combat

I'm not really interested in assigning blame, but the fact is it happened, and it's annoying, and ultimately Paizo is delivering the product so it is their problem. In fact I found the blog post that tried to avoid blame a little annoying - "the buck stops here" and all that. (By the way, what...

Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder and Mass Combat

Good guess! ;) That's whatI thought at first, too, but there are a couple of problems. From a philosophical perspective, it means offensive strategies are way more valuable than defense - because it gives a huge bonus to damage, and these armies don't have many hit points. From a more...

Has anyone made good bar fight encounters?

Looks like you've already solved your problem, but I think there are a lot of fun terrain and environment elements one can use to make it memorable. See the article "Tossing Kegs and Smashing Chairs" in Kobold Quarterly #8, which I believe is also available in the Best of KQ issue available...

Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder and Mass Combat

Actually the questions of editing and these mass combat rules are one and the same, since there are some serious errors in the presentation of those very rules! The most obvious is the "Strategy" table, which has a column that makes no sense at all - I'm guessing it is a relic of an earlier...

What would WotC need to do to win back the disenchanted?

Just to be clear: the definition you quoted is NOT the OED definition, it is the (popular press, vastly simplified, no more authoritative than any other source) Oxford World Dictionary definition. The full OED is only available online by subscription, and it actually makes no mention of Islam...

What would WotC need to do to win back the disenchanted?

Personally, I don't think you should have to keep track of who the designers are (and I don't think many fans do, and I don't think that WotC thinks they do - hence the massive turnover at the company). And if somebody is rude to me, whether a customer service representative or a manager, my...

What would WotC need to do to win back the disenchanted?

As one of the people you quoted in your earlier post, I feel compelled to rise to the defense of this thread. First, you objected to the use of "angry" in response to WotC's choices. That's probably fair - I should have been more specific and used "annoyed" or something milder. True anger...

What would WotC need to do to win back the disenchanted?

Although Imaro made it in a flippant way, I think this is a valid point. Along with the change in rules, WotC changed their business philosophy with 4e. Probably due to the hue and cry over 3.0/3.5, they decided that comparable upgrades will just occur organically as periodic patches to the...

What would WotC need to do to win back the disenchanted?

I think we need to separate DDI and 4e. I don't think DDI has alienated anyone; it is a great tool. It is the decisions in the 4e system itself which many find problematic. On a tangent: is it really easier to make a 4e character, even with DDI, than a BECMI character? I'm not so sure...

What would WotC need to do to win back the disenchanted?

First let me say that I find it a bit sad that this thread - which began as a (mostly) positive attempt to say what WotC could do to attract this "disenchanted" segment has degenerated into bickering. If you love 4e and aren't disenchanted, why attack people who are, and who are trying to be...

What would WotC need to do to win back the disenchanted?

It seems self-evident to me that WotC is concerned about those who didn't convert to 4e. Like it or not, the launch of 4e did alienate lots of D&D players, and the success of Pathfinder shows that those folks have moved on. One rule of business is to keep your existing customer base - that...

    Dreseden Files RPG is Awesome

The rules are simple but allow any of Harry's items. There are two types: focus items, which simply grant a bonus on particular skill checks to cast spells (split by offense/defense, power/control, and elements), and enchanted items, which stores spells (usually usable once/session). Each...
