This is not quit true, at least in reference to original Conan. Sorcery, demonic entities, and the like were fearful (Specifically in the Scarlet Citadel). Just my further 2 cents.

Gamma World, for the first three editions (and probably 4th as well), was the same as D&D/AD&D. i.e. roll 3d6 and add them together. If you were a Pure Strain Human you rolled 4d6 for Int and Constitution. I believe 4th ed was roll 4d6-L. 5th edition was Alternity rules system.

I 100% agree with you here. Just can't find anything that does good S&S that my players will like.
