The VOIDRUNNER'S CODEX is coming! Explore new worlds, fight oppressive empires, fend off fearsome aliens, and wield deadly psionics with this comprehensive boxed set expansion for 5E and A5E!
My philosophy as a DM boils down to the Jon Stewart quote "Creativity comes from limits, not freedom". He was essentially saying within the context of news commentary his writers create better/more focused comedy than they would given a complete blank slate.
I tend to repeat myself and design...
Man that's just awful. Awful for the game getting less content and of course awful for the designers losing their jobs and possibly having to relocate.
I really want more 5E stuff. Hopefully we'll see those two on Kickstarter producing some sort of off-brand Advanced Players Guide or additional...
Word.
Most of the time the cultist theme goes like "you see cultists. They're in a cult". If the DM didn't know better the cultists may self-identify as cultists (no one in an actual cult does this). D&D really fails at giving cults any flavor.
Oh... :(
I thought it was a massive TOEE campaign. Never played the original. That's really disappointing. I was actually really hyped about the dungeon. It would have actually been really convenient for me if they placed it in the realms too.
With the concurrent release of a TOEE board game I...
Has anyone figured what this campaign setting entails?
Is it a remake/expansion of Temple of Elemental Evil? It sort of seems like that but I haven't got any confirmation. I know they moved the setting from Greyhawk to Forgotten Realms.
My group loves that stuff. I did a cave module where they discovered a chainsaw and a blunderbuss and a bunch of reprogrammed modrons. They loved it.
I'm pretty sure the idea that D&D should be boxed into a genre died a long time ago.
Here's the map. I guess it didn't embed in the last post. It's weird...even the mask looks a bit like mine.
My map was designed to hide things the players wouldn't have known about at the start of the campaign.
Dude. THIS IS FRIGGIN WEIRD.
I actually Photoshopped the map about a month ago - with Saltmarsh in the same place. Even the white mask you used resembles mine. I actually considered putting White Plume Mountain in their as well.
I was considering the Fire Giant Hall in Mount Hotenow also, for...
Awesome! Wish I could join.
I'd be weary of starting characters at higher levels (above 7), unless they're pretty gamer-savvy types. If one person is iffy on the rules it can sort of slow down a high-level campaign for everyone. Why don't you start at a lower level? I find these high level...
Man...I'd really like a few of those APs in 5E format. Particularly Kingmaker. And some of those monsters and classes. I don't buy this "PF and 5E are apples and oranges" stuff at all. A good Pathfinder adventure translates just fine to 5E. You can run Forgotten Realms all day in Pathfinder and...
All my WOTC and Paizo minis are my most treasured possessions. For the most part they're indestructible and generally come well-painted.
If you're on a budget I'd recommend the flat tokens WOTC was bundling with the 4E redbox or 4E books over the Paizo standup pawns. I played in a game with the...
Same.
One per four boxes? I usually just buy two boxes of every Paizo and WOTC set so I don't get anything repeated. If they're only doing one per four boxes I kind of lost interest. Essentially I'd end up owning a lot more kobolds before getting something as simple as a chair.
You know it's so much effort to convert things. It really works if you just run em as is. Keep on the Borderlands is a perfect example of this. Just sub out the monsters. I did Ravenloft too (with the beta) and only had to rebuild Strahd the Sunsword. I think I buffed the zombies and skeletons...
