My paladin found a ring of spell storing. Do you think he can use the stored spell slots to power divine smite?

Warlocks that get 2 spell slots per day plus at will invocations seem awesome... especially since you only really need 3 levels of warlock. Magic initiate for cantrips also seems good. Rogues are loaded with at will abilities. Bards and battle masters have a lot of short rest abilities...

Something like 6 levels of shadow monk and some blade singer? Or arcane trickster? Or two levels or warlock for Devil's Sight? Seems like there are a lot of directions to go, but 6 levels in Monk is a lot.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts. I guess my confusion was warranted, and in the end it doesn't matter too much -- just let the player describe her actions and decide if it sounds reasonable.

Well, almost all tools seem to be proxies for abilities that could instead be skills. For example, Thieves' Tools could have been a skill called "Disarm Traps" or something similar; same for Disguise Kit, Poisoners Kit, and Forgery Kit. Same with many crafting tools and gaming "tools"...

Your player's bard wants to perform a concert for the king and his court to earn their favor. Do you ask her to roll a skill check for Performance or for her lute as a tool? I'm thinking Performance... but then when she use her lute proficiency?

I think three levels of Blade Singer looks pretty awesome for my Arcane Trickster. Will be down (1.5)d6 for sneak attack, but Booming Blade and Familiar (for advantage) will make up the shortfall. (Vanilla Arcane Trickster could have those also, of course.) I even love the fluff of free...

What do the Bladesinger levels contribute? Are they worth the loss of 1d6 sneak attack? I want a character that OOZES magic.
