    I think the point was...why cannot the mage backup while the fighter is charging so that the fighter's attack never happens

    if you want to be more....."realistic".....you could always have the saves be con checks instead of a fort save. Never understood how advancing in level could make you more resistant to poisons and diseases except by raising your con

    this would not take care of the ongoing issue, how to put other weapon enhancements on it. Also, it will turn out to be cheaper thqan it should be at the higher levels (higher levels of + would be linear in progression, while weapon enhancements go up exponentially).

    Hmm. Should probably sate that one of my goals is to increase power at low levels and axe power at high levels. basically, want it to actually be balanced to the non-magic types across the levels, unlike the wizard/sorcerer that bite at low levels and rule at high levels.

    A lot depends on the game. One with lots of undead and constructs makes crits worthless, hence the + damage is much better
