Some of my commercial and hobby cartography

The city map is great, I love the amount of detail there is to look at.

    Physical storage of drawings?

Agreeing with darkhall here. At that size a portfolio case is the best option and will make pretty sure they stay nice. What you should consider is what they are worth to you, not what they might be worth to the rest of the world ;) You could look for plastic folders at that size as well, though...

    My First Map Attempt

I like it. It straightforward, simple, yet inspiring to look at, and I like the somewhat muted colours, they really fit the style of the map :)

    Thank you both! :)

Some of my maps and drawings

Okay, bump of my thread from quite a while ago. Just didn't want to make a whole new thread for a few new maps.. Fusion > thanks for the comment (and sorry for my so very late reply). I do understand people may find it tedious work, but I agree that a little attention to detail and aesthetics...

Shadowend map - updated 2/5 with revised local map

Latest map is very nice as well. Love the little details like the houses and forts denoting cities and towns. Are those hatched areas arable ground?

    Should Halfings wear shoes?

I like both Tolkiens hobbits and less Tolkien like halflings. Just depends on the world and the idea the race is supposed to give. I do think the way they're going with halflings in 3E and 4E seems to fit the gameworld they intent to create way better than hobbits, so for gaming I'd say no shoes...

Shadowend map - updated 2/5 with revised local map

Yeah, going on and on with such a thing isn't working either :) I think those new fonts look nice, btw.

Shadowend map - updated 2/5 with revised local map

Wow, I really like it :). The use of colour makes for recognizable areas and for some reason the coastline is my favourite part of the map. However, that's also something that draws attention away from the rest of the map, because of the huge contract between the water - coastline - land...

    Celtonia

What are Roman times by your standards? As far as I know, the Dál Riata (an Ulster tribe, indeed called Scotti - 'raiders') were settling in Scotland around the 4-5th century AD, the Viking's first known raid was about 795 AD. Together with the Dál Riata, several other Irish tribes tried to get...

What Core Races have you played?

I've played an elf, half-elf and a dwarf (for one session, woo). And I thought I never played a human until after I voted, so there's one vote for the never-played-humans that doesn't count. And I'm still playing a gnome. I don't know, I find gnomes pretty cute :P. But I think I may be one of...

    Celtonia

From what I know, the Celts who lived in Cisalpine Gaul (the northern part of Italy, south of the Alps) were pretty urbanized by the time the Romans came to conquer them. The same was already happening in Gaul itself by the time the Romans. The oppida (sg. oppidum, lage settlements defended by a...

    "West Style" Maps

Wow, very nice and detailed map. I will echo Sunaj2k3, please share your process in making such a map, I would be very interested to see that. I find it interesting btw that the torture chamber is right next to the main hall ;)

    Arthnek's India Inks on Bristol

I like it (b&w art rocks). Though perhaps try to work on your values, get a bit more darks and lights into your drawing :)

Some of my maps and drawings

Pyrandon > Thanks for the comment. About the colours: I'm still figuring out what colours to use, imo, it's the most difficult thing about mapmaking. So in that light, thanks for the comment on the encounter map, it's good to know what feel it establishes :) Sunaj2k3 & jaerdaph > both thanks...
