I still don't agree with that interpretation. It mentions right in the Eagle Shaman discription, "Your spirit companion soars above you allies, keeping a watchful eye for hidden enemies...". Surely they would have mentioned somewhere explicitly that the Eagle spirit can't actually fly if that...
What about the Eagle Shaman build in Primal Power? The eagle just hovers around a couple inches above the ground? Seems weird that it can't fly at all...

Thanks for all the responses folks, it is much appreciated (except perhaps for the two fellows who are unaware of modern dictionaries). Some great ideas here. I see it is ongoing damage that is the real problem and not just Pure Glow. Well, at least ongoing damage that is applied in an area...
Does Pure Glow (Morninglord [Paladin] lvl 11) auto-kill all minions in it's aoe?
I've been ruling that way since it does 10 damage to all enemies at the start of their turn, but it is really trivializing all encounters with minions unless I send them out in waves. The Paladin tends to lead off...
