New to the 4th edition and am making a 1st level Paladin and just need a few clarifications. If these questions have been answered elsewhere then pointing me in that direction would be good too.
In the rules it states under the heading of "Target" that if a power specifies "ally or allies" then...
My gaming group has just started with 4th edition and my character is a Warlock. One of the aspects that I am eager to check out, is just how often I get to bounce around the battlefield, using this power.
I remember when the 3.5 edition came out, my gaming group thought that that would be the last edition of D&D because the game rules covered so much and offered so many options. Then the 4th edition was announced and we were curious as to what the changes would be.
At first I was a little...
The debate: Casting a ranged touch spell (like Ray of Enfeeblement, for example) provokes two attacks of Opportunity; One for casting a spell and a second for making a "ranged" attack.
Argument #1 Ranged attack spells are "ranged" attacks (like using a bow, or throwing a dagger) and therefore...
I've always like the idea of splitting Dexterity into Dexterity (manual dexterity) and Agility (full body adroitness). So, Dexterity would be your bonus to hit with an attack (instead of Strength), bonuses to manual skills like open locks and pick pockets. While Agility would be the bonus to...
I like the idea of a bigger negative hit points is a good idea. Personally, I think that -10-CON is sufficient (so a CON of 16 would allow you to get to -26 before croaking) and perhaps CON bonus adds +5% to stabilization chance. This would allow for more interesting scenarios involving players...
Strangely enough, previous D&D versions fighters did not get many abilities. Fighters got the highest hit dice (d10), the highest BAB (Or THACO in previous editions), were skilled in any armor or weapon and could take more weapon proficiencies than other classes. The only real "ability" that...
If the character is not getting any special benefit (for example, getting another attack beyond their normal number of attacks), then I would allow it with no problem or penalty, provided that they can do so within the rules for number of actions. And I think in this case that qualifies.
For...
I can picture an Arnold Scharz (cant spell his last name) type of character with a crossbow aimed at the sleeping characters head, saying, "Hasta la vista. Baby." :] :p
I am not sure what "level of bookkeeping" you are referring to? The bags always hold the same maximum (40 lbs as an example). You take the total weight of the contents (lets say 200 lbs of treasure, magic, armor and severed dragon heads :p ), then divide that by the amount depending...
I like the idea of Bags of Holding reducing the weight of the contents, then the bag looks as full as how much weight it is holding. For example, lets say a normal bag can hold 40 lbs. A Bag of Holding will always hold 40 lbs, but different Bag of Holding will reduce the weight of the contents...
I have no issues whatsoever with players describing the visual effects of spells. The spell itself does not change and will not do anything more than what the rule descriptions say.
On that note, I also say that regardless of the spell description, if the spell ruling does not state an effect...
Thanks for the feedback everyone. It seems like there is such a thing as "weapon-like" spells, but they may not be able to take advantage of ALL the things that benefit weapons. Looks like I will check that book myself to understand the ruling, and have something to point to. :)
Well, his...
