Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder Sneak Peeks (Old thread)

Actually it's +8 Level +2 Strength +1 Weapon Focus -2 TWF It seems that Flurry only simulates TWF and that you can't use Imp. TWF to pump up flurry (although I wouldn't be surprised if that is a higher level ability). Further it sounds like monk got short sword added to his list of special...

Mary Sue- Not sure I understand

IMHO Elminster was initially envisioned as a powerful, extremely well-connected magic-user who is a bit of a meddler and deus ex machinae but much less powerful than he appeared in later fiction. In the original greybox he was definitely a powerful wizard who was a decent match for Manshoon...

Do you remove unnamed bonuses? And stacking bonuses?

Unnamed Bonuses are generally pretty significant factors in the min/max arsenal. If you are wanting to limit that sort of behavior this might be a decent way of doing it.

    A good wizard/fighter build?

Eldritch Knight is definitely the way to go under the core rules for higher end builds but it's sometimes a bear to get up to the levels where it begins to really shine over classes like the Duskblade. If you want high end spellcasting plus full iterative attacks at 20 then the Eldritch Knight...

Mike Mearls' Monster Makeover Suggestions HERE

Doesn't this end up potentially opening up problems with alter self as suddenly Ogre (Giant) or Centaur(Monstrous Humanoid) is an acceptable form to take. While there are definitely some builds that take advantage of more potent monsters to alter self into this would seem to be a pretty...

How often do PCs make an orderly retreat?

At low levels it's not always common enough and can be quite difficult if the monster has greater speed than the bulk of the party and decides to pursue. At higher levels it's not terribly uncommon as the scry and fry technique is fairly effective in most people's games.

    Elven Resistance to Sleep

I think Ranger and/or Sorcerer should be the favored class as both seem to fit the literature inspiration better than a bookish wizard. Half-Elves should move to Bard (Spontaneous caster like many elven parents) as the favored class and Gnomes should get Wizard (Illusionist) as the favored class.

    Multiclassing a fighter

In a game versus undead paladins are definitely very nice characters. The bonus on your saves from Charisma (+2 if you bump charisma to 14- more if you get a cloak of charisma) plus the good Will progression will really help you with will saves later on. Your healing touch and mount will be a...

    Elven Resistance to Sleep

The -2 to con is significant problem for elven casters but it's hardly insurmountable Assuming an Elite array the Elven Wizard will likely have a -1HP/level, a slightly worse Fort Save, a slightly better Reflex save, a slightly better AC, a slightly better chance to hit with ranged attacks...

Is there any way to make a viable enchanter?

Mind Blank should never be that much of a concern for PC enchanter as the vast majority of CR15+ encounters will not be capable of casting mind blank themselves. That pretty much limits Mind Blank use on arcane caster BBEG or BBEGs with high level arcane caster lieutenants. In those cases you...

I can't really tell if the builder is using the Epic ruleset or some homemade one.

    Retreiver HP?

I guess it's quite possible that the additional bonus HPs are factored into it's CR.

6 Epic Spells Per Day at Level 21?

4 Epic spells Knowledge(Nature) would only kick in if you could cast 9th level Druid spells.

DM's: Are you afraid to kill PC's because of how players might react?

I'm kinda confused as too the justification of bringing in a brand new character at the same level as the rest of the party when raise dead causes a very definite penalty. It seems unless you remove the lost HD from Raise Dead that only discourages people from staying with the same character...

Is there any way to make a viable enchanter?

Even with just core spells the enchanter has several spells that are pretty powerful. Charm Person at low levels can net the party a decent humanoid to supplement the party tank. Tasha's Hideous Laughter is an excellent spell for knocking low will save opponents out of a fight. Once Charm...

    Retreiver HP?

While Huge constructs should only have 40 bonus HP I assume the general rule of (unless otherwise noted in a creature’s entry-statblock being part of the entry) allows the retriever to break the normal template. I suspect it's largely done to make the retriever tougher without having to load up...

    Wimps

Hrmm with the possible exception of poop I've seen all of those elements used quite effectively in exalted, vampire, HOL, etc.

DM's: Are you afraid to kill PC's because of how players might react?

I generally have no problem killing characters but with raise dead (resurrection, etc) it rarely seems to be a long term problem. For the most part they can either get raised (if the party has access to the spell) or the player can replace the character with another of the same level -1 just...

    Another Time Perhaps

78 years to make name level in OD&D? Seems a bit slow but not unheard of assuming lots of downtime. I generally found that name level took 8-10 years of gametime in my 1e games. FR in 2e changed that to 10th level in roughly 5-7 years. 3e and 3.5e definitely allow for progressions of 1-20 in...

    Elven Resistance to Sleep

I hope that any future version restores some of sleep's tarnished glory but if not it's pretty much okay to just keep the save bonus vs enchantment. You'll take Immunity to Ghoul paralysis over my dead body though ;)
