    adding class skills

I don't think it would be unbalancing for certain classes like Fighter or Wizard who have very restricted lists. To keep it from getting out of hand you could still use the cross class rank limits (1/2 normal) even if buying the ranks didn't cost more.

    Defeating an incorporeal creature

It seems that everyone has forgotten the age old method of hurting something immune to most attacks...FIRE! I don't know if thats actually a rule, but I would allow it in my campaign. It worked for Aragorn.

    2-Weapon Fighting vs. 1-Weapon Fighting

Try a fighter using a greatsword and the improved disarm feat or spring attack. You are going to get as much damage potential without the penalties. The 1 1/2 damage bonus is very nice as well (2 handed). The improved disarm feat take away some of the negatives from the disarm action...

    Duom question

I have a player in our new campaign who wishes to use the duom as his primary weapon. I have a few questions that I would like some opinions on. First, is the +2 bonus on the first attack against adjacent opponents mean the first time attacking that particular opponent or the first time...

I'm in need of Ranger help!

Give him a reason to hate the Orcs. Even better, tie in the same story for why he became a ranger. Perhaps his family were farmers killed by Orcs when he was a teenager. He then had to learn to live off the land on his own at a young age. He could have turned to nature as a way off...

Learning to do DM type things

As a starting point use the resources on the Internet. There are numerous free download modules that are nice short little drop in type stories. The Wizards of the Coast site has several of these that you could use to get some ideas from.

Magical Sickness: Not For The Red Cross

How about it being a curse that causes a disease. You must cast remove curse first then remove disease. If you cast remove disease first, then the curse just reinfects the victim.

    "Themed" campaigns

If I ever DM I have already planned how my players will begin. I will instruct them all to devise a reason for leaving a civilized continent for a less civilized one. Then they will all be the only survivors of a ship wreck. Their first quest will be done as a repayment of the town/lord for...

(LOTR) A poll from the LOTR site that failed there, but might be of interest here

Regarding the elves ability to withstand the balrog, only those who had seen the light of Aman (the two trees) in the first age would likely measure up. In the Silmarillion, Tolkien often mentions that elves who had seen the light had an innate power unachievable by others. Therefore...
