    Who Will Get the Axe?

Sorry to see that you got the axe, Linae. You were my favorite "good face" at Wizards of the Coast. :) Even a lot of the kookier people (talking mostly about the WotC boards) seemed to calm down and appreciate your input. Good luck to Scott managing without you. On a positive note, I seriously...

When is D&D Insider actually launching?

The D&D Insider will be released just in time for 5th edition in 2013, at which point it will be scrapped for the all-new "iDungeons & Dragons Experience." All elements of the DDI will be completely incompatible with the iDDE. Also, iDDE will only run on Windows Vista 2 systems with 10GB RAM and...

Witch Hunter: Are you playing? Yes? No? Why?

I wish I was going this year. I went in 2006 and 2007, but I'm finally getting out of a loooong period of unemployment (almost 18 months!) and there's no way I could afford it. :-S I'm hoping to attend next year.

Witch Hunter: Are you playing? Yes? No? Why?

I personally love Witch Hunter but have not been able to get my group to play, mainly because we just don't have time for more than one campaign. We're still playing in the Midnight campaign setting, a game that's been running since spring of 2003, and everyone wants to "get to the end" before...

(Mongoose) Wraith Recon Announced for 4e

I am not a fan of the 4E rules, seems far too video-gamey to me. However, if that is the case, this setting sounds like SoCom meets D&D with a bullet. Maybe I will reconsider 4E after all. :) I for one am going to give it a try. Mongoose has been great with choices for product lines lately...

    Female gamers: Weal or woe?

I recommend everyone check out a strip club at least once. For the philosophical/scholastic benefits only of course. :D

    Female gamers: Weal or woe?

My personl experience has it all based on age. When I was in my 20s and had a female player the guys would either tone down their usual playing style or hit on the chick in the group. In our 30s this was less of an issue, as most of the players were either married or in serious relationships...

Cube of Force , Gaze Attacks, and Charm Monster

Makes sense. I'll rule that charm monster is a no go, but gaze attack will follow the statement under the wall of force spell (which doesn't really matter to the player since he's not facing that problem.) Thanks for the input.

Cube of Force , Gaze Attacks, and Charm Monster

Hi all, I've got a player who's activated a cube of force using side 5, "keeps out all things." According to the description, the cube is a special kind of wall of force. A wall of force permits gaze attacks to go through it. Does a cube of force? I'm also not sure about mind-affecting...

    Wiki Wiki Wiki

Morrus, Maybe it's just me, but if I click on the Newest Pages link (http://www.enworld.org/wiki/index.php/Special:Newpages), most (but not all) of the links in the list are white text on a light yellow background. You can't read it without highlighting the entries. Otherwise, I'm pretty...

Can a once a month game work?

My group plays once a month, sometimes once every two or three months, thanks to marriages, kids, and biizarro work schedules. I use myth-weavers to as a way to keep track of everything that happens in our sessions, communicate with the group, and even play side adventures online. It has the...

Did the WotC boards blow up...again?

Somebody at Hasbro ought to open a spare coffer and throw some gold pieces at Wizards so they can clean up their server farm. It's pretty embarrassing, especially now that an entire month has past since the introduction of 4E and they still can't seem to keep there forums up and running longer...

    Gamespy interview

Semantics. This is a game designer talking, not a politician or a lawyer. His wording might not be as exactling as one would like, but you can get the gist of what he's saying. Neverwinter Nights Neverwinter Nights 2 The expansions for both, including user mods Historically, the gold box...

    Gamespy interview

But if they pulled back the rights then they'd get the same kind of outcry as what happened when they pulled Dragon/Dungeon, Dragonlance, Ravenloft, etc. Plus, Wizards is not a software company, despite adding onlne features to the game. Pulling such licenses does nothing to help them. In this...

    Gamespy interview

I don't mind a lack of rules adjudication, but I'd like to see reference tools for the DM, such as the ability to call up monster stats or a specific rule for combat/movement/whatever. As it stands that isn't going to be possible. Of course, what I'd really like is to see the game table. That...

    Gamespy interview

Andy Collins makes an interesting comment regarding the lack of rules adjudication in the game table. I'm not sure I agree with that, since DDI wouldn't actually be putting out an online D&D game, just a few tools to make life easier for the DM. However, it is a good point and kind of speaks to...

RPG set in US Revolutionry War

I second Northern Crown. Also, to go a little further back, you could try Witch Hunter, set in an alternate history 1689. I like to think of it as Buffy the Vampire Slayer meets Pirates of the Caribbean meets Every Errol Flynn Movie Ever. :D It's put ou by Paradigm Concepts, the guys who do...

Mimicking WotC's layout design, fonts, etc. . .

I saw a message from Scott Rouse over on the Wizards boards. He is looking to get those power symbols made ready for people to use in their own products, but as of now there is no separate file for you find them in. The method you describe is pretty much the only way to get them at the moment...

D&D 4e Rules Compendium in online!

Wasn't the Compendium supposed to be useful to the players and DM when using the game table? I might be wrong on this, so correct if I am, but I thought in some of the marketing stuff we've seen over the past months we were told that the compendium would be handy for the virtual table. If...
