You could have your players swap the characters they're playing for the duration of the amnesia. This would simulate the PCs being unfamiliar with their own abilities. Once the amnesia ends, everyone gets their own character back.

The PDFS didn't have much effect on my decision to cancel my Amazon preorder. The 4E - Core Handbook Errors thread (http://www.enworld.org/showthread.php?t=227743&page=10) that is already up to ten pages of problems and typos did. I think I'm going to wait for a revised printing that clears up...

I think this is a very good point. You can't really compare the pirating of "normal" books by people who just want to read them, with RPG rule books where the ability to cut and paste the text into other documents and spreadsheets is actually a big incentive to download the pirated file.

I suspect that a poll of the age of the people who are "buying" 4ed may skew older since those darn younguns might be more likely to get the books "off the internets" rather than spend the cash on dead-tree versions.

And if the mini character sheet cards are slipped into plastic sleeves, a wet erase pen can be used to mark conditions, temporary bonuses, etc.
