Symbolizing Everything Wrong At DC Comics

DC seems to have really dropped the ball on this. Back when this gimmick was announced, DC was urging stores to get their orders in before the cut off date so that they can be sure to get all their comics. Then there were rumblings that DC was only going to fulfill 60% of their orders. It...

    IN REMEMBRANCE--2013

Indianapolis horror TV host "Sammy Terry" passed away on June 30th. Bob Carter, who portrayed Sammy, was 83 years old. I believe his show ran from 1963 to '89. I'm a big fan of horror hosts and Sammy was one of my favorites. :.-(

Symbolizing Everything Wrong At DC Comics

I did say that they might think that the covers will entice fans to pick up new series they don't normally read and start collecting them. The problem to me is that they are increasing the price for the gimmick covers and losing money on that. If they are going for a loss leader, why not just...

Symbolizing Everything Wrong At DC Comics

Every once in a while, I like to check out the "Has DC Done Something Stupid Today" website, which pokes fun at the dumb ideas and actions that seem to flow nonstop from the company. The most recent one (as of this writing) had to do with DC's upcoming 3D covers for "Villains' Month". It...

    Netflix or Redbox?

Wow, this thread is still alive. I forgot I started it. :o If anyone is still interested, I did decide to go with Netflix. It just seemed a lot more convenient. I've mostly been watching the DVDs. It seems most of the movies I want to watch aren't available streaming. I did watch a...

    Netflix or Redbox?

Thanks for all the advice. It looks like I'm going to be going with Netflix. :)

    Netflix or Redbox?

Well, it finally happened, the last video store in town is closing its doors. This leaves me with two options: Redbox or Netflix. I've never used either, so I wanted to ask some questions and get your opinions of them. First, Netflix. From what I understand, you don't download the movie...

    [April] What are you reading?

I'm currently reading three books: American Scary: Conversations with the Kings, Queens and Jesters of Late-Night Horror TV, by Michael Monahan. Monahan was involved with a few other people in making a (rather excellent) documentary about the history of horror hosts in America called "American...

    Identify A Rock

I sent an e-mail to the Earth Science professor at the local university, so we'll see what he has to say. Also, I tried the vinegar test and nothing bubbled. And I'm not sure if I mentioned it, but the mine was an anthracite coal mine (not sure if that helps).

    Identify A Rock

I have no idea about the mine. My grandfather had the rock since before I was born and he passed away in the early 90s. No offense, but I don't want to mess around with any acid. No, I don't own a black light or a geiger counter, so I...wait, radioactive? Oh, my God, I'm gonna die! I'm...

    Identify A Rock

What areas do you need to see? I take a close of picture of them if you think it would help. There is a college nearby and I found the e-mail of the Earth Science professor, so I think I'm going to send him a message.

    Identify A Rock

No flaking. It's all very solid. Running the knife across it just puts a light scratch on it. I'd ruin my knife before damaging the rock.

    Identify A Rock

Nope. It's very hard and heavy. The white areas feel like rough stone and the green feel like...rock candy or plastic. It's very solid and heavier than it looks. If I dropped it on my foot, I would break it (my foot, not the rock :)).
