If they do this, I will break something. I want PDFs.

    D&D 5E I Love D&D Next, But ...

D&D Next is, to me, the one edition to rule them all. So far, it blows its predecessors out of the water, and has an uncanny knack for agreeing with me and coming up with things that I wish I had thought of. Unfortunately, it really isn't practical for me to play it unless it is available in...

    D&D 3E/3.5 3.5 Edition Reprints

Why not just buy Pathfinder? Its better written, streamlined, better organized, and (likely) cheaper.

    D&D 3E/3.5 3.5 Edition Reprints

This is kind of sad. It seems almost like they are telling us Fourth Edition was a mistake. It also looks like they are trying to win back some of the fanbase that gravitated towards Pathfinder. I seriously doubt it will work.

    Fourth Edition Retro Clone

You will be exited to know that I am working on setting up a kickstarter campaign at indiegogo.com (I can't do kickstarter.com since I live in Canada). However, I need a video, and a finite release deadline. First, I think that the beginning of Summer, 2013 is reasonable. That gives us a year...

    Fourth Edition Retro Clone

Ugh. Sorry about my absence. Most of my time had been taken up by friends, homework, and a crippling Skyrim addiction, not necessarily in that order. I will get back to work on Magic Sword shortly.

    Fourth Edition Retro Clone

The doc has just received major updates. I have simultaneously started to build the system and the Cleric class. Please tell me what you think.

    Fourth Edition Retro Clone

We shall now buckle down and work on the classes. To start, we shall have a brainstorming session. The subject: the Cleric! How should Domains work? What should the starting Domains be? What should the Cleric's advancement be like? What kind of powers should the Cleric get? What should we...

    Fourth Edition Retro Clone

I have begun to work on the adventure. You can find what I have so far Here. Please tell me what you think.

    Fourth Edition Retro Clone

I think that before the full game is released, we should put out a decent sized adventure that contains rules and pre-gen characters, so people can try out the game. Think "Keep on the Shadowfell" for Magic Sword.

    Fourth Edition Retro Clone

If you are interested in the project, you should check out its thread at rpg.net. There is a lot more discussion going on there. Also, I have an idea for the setting: The world is littered with massive broken ruins left behind by some mysterious ancient civilization. They make up much of the...

    Fourth Edition Retro Clone

Fourth Edition won't be supported by the time the game is released.

    Fourth Edition Retro Clone

Races could be like themes, providing alternate utility powers at various levels, and granting more and more racial powers as character level up. I would also like to make them more flexible. Perhaps each one could have a dozen or so racial traits, and players could choose two at first level...

    Fourth Edition Retro Clone

I created a Google Doc containing notes and such. It will be the main construction area for the game. Note that everything is subject to change. It can be found Here.

    Fourth Edition Retro Clone

Good points. I'm not looking to do an exact replica, though. More like something between 75% and 90% the same, at least in terms of mechanics. Most of the same principals would apply, but the changes would be substantial enough that 4e content couldn't properly be used without a bit of conversion.

    Fourth Edition Retro Clone

I will be sad to see Fourth Edition gone. It was a truly innovative and powerful rules set, despite its flaws. Based on the Fifth Edition playtest, it looks like the Wizards will be ignoring most of it in favour of older iterations of the game. This makes me sad. I am willing to put aside some...

D&D 4E My Least Favourite Thing About 4e is Forced Balance

If the Wizard knows they are going to be fighting fire creatures, they should prepare non-fire spells or suffer. Not every player needs to contribute equally to fixing every problematic situation. Sometimes, characters are better in some kinds of situations than others.

D&D 4E My Least Favourite Thing About 4e is Forced Balance

Don't get me wrong. I'm not a 4e hater. I like 4e enough that I am a D&D Insider subscriber. There is just one thing about the game that I really, really hate. Forced balance. If a rogue goes up behind a skeleton and sneak attacks them, they get to do extra damage. This makes me mad. The Sneak...

Bring back the exposed boobs on the Monsters!

I think the notion of monsters with exposed breasts is a good one. Often, in 4e, monsters are covered, even though they have no reason to cover themselves. A great example is the succubus.

    D&D 5E The Physical D&D Next Books

This is how I would like to see the D&D Next core products released. Started Set: This would be the introduction to the game for new players, and the introduction to the new edition for existing players. It would cover levels 1-10, and would only contain the four iconic classes. 64-page...
