D&D 5E D&D 5 Basic Core Rules are Free

It's sort of ironic, because many of the mechanics you listed as new were actually in Fourth Edition and just ported over.

    D&D 4E Reply if you love 4e

Are you me? The last 4e magazine came out today, so 4e is officially dead. No longer will we see any support for this beautiful, horribly managed game.

A question for folks who started with 3E, 4E or Pathfinder: how do earlier editions play for you?

Well, my first experience with D&D was a long time ago for me. I was young and my friend tried to get me to play some 3e (he basically just DMPC'd me for the hour that we played). Well after that, I was given a Basic D&D box set from the 90s, say, five years ago, a while after that little game...

Pathfinder 1E Advanced Class Guide Playtest Rules

My thoughts from over on MW: The Arcanist is awfully OP compared to the Sorcerer, but it's a 3.5 rip so the disparity between casters isn't that big anyway. It's a cool mechanism, but the rest of the class mechanics are sort of blah. School Supremacy is a great capstone, but PrCs will end up...

Top Ten D&D Settings of ALL TIME!

I'd take this with a grain of salt. They did this over on the WotC forums and got similar yet still quite different results. Grayhawk was much less popular, and Eberron and FR were the top two in that order IIRC. That said, I like all these settings with the exclusions of the more generic ones...

Tabletop Gaming News for Saturday, 20 April, 2013 [Plus: D&D is Evil!]

Well said Pat. I played D&D once. It led me into a war of ideals that spanned universes and consisted of demonic vitriol. It sucked me into this war, and I defied God by participating. They call it the "Edition Wars."

    Why D&D Sucks

It was almost a credible article until this. This too.

    Kobold Quarterly no more...

I always wished they did more content for 4e. It was usually all PF, which lost them a customer.

    D&D 5E Multiclassing--Which and Why?

3.x style MCing is really fun, but in practice turns out to be a letdown unless you're doing a build like Soradin (sorcerer paladin). If they made it that you get an equivalent to gaining a new level in your own class, I'd be great. Take 4e for example. What if a fighter 22/cleric 1 didn't gain...

Monte Cook's Numenera Approaches Half Million Dollars

Numanera might well reach the scale of CoC, Exalted, Shadowrun, etc. It's raised about as much as those books sell, especially in this amount of time, maybe more.

Monte Cook's Numenera Approaches Half Million Dollars

You're kidding, right? He was the cause of the bias. I bet he's a cool guy, but I hate pretty much every piece a crunch he has put out there, and the fluff for Numenara sounds pretty bad. This seems like a good place to try out think tags. I have no idea what they do. I think that Numenara is...

    HACKMASTER Basic - for free!

Hopefuly I can some day, but my group hardly ever meets and none of us have any more money to experement with. It's not really my style, anyway. I hate old school.

    HACKMASTER Basic - for free!

No, my point is it kills any hope of a good thief. Each class is expected to act one way, and if they don't, they are penalized.

    HACKMASTER Basic - for free!

Actually, that's my whole beef: the Honor system. It's incredibly restrictive. A thief must "look out for number one" or lose honor. Yes, you are dishonorable if you help your allies. Plus, you must strictly follow every bit of your incredibly vague alignment, which each person interprets...
