D&D 5E Has Anyone Seen the Following Builds?

I have seen a couple of Wizards take early dips into Fighter for the Action Surge and Second Wind abilities, in fact I have done it myself. I have seen Rogues do this as well, an extra Action and a bit of healing for a short rest is a decent trade off.

    OSR Let's make Shadowdark classes!

Torch Bearer: Mediocrity is your game and you don't completely suck at it. You are part pack mule, part personal assistant and you get no repsect. Weapons: Dagger, longbow, longsword, shortbow, shortsword, spear, staff Armor: Leather armor, chainmail and shields Hit Dice: 1d4 per level...

    D&D 5E 5e isn't a Golden Age of D&D Lorewise, it's Silver at best.

The problem with setting “Ages” is we really never know where we are until long after its over.

Webbed Sphere, Inc. acquires long time game publisher Flying Buffalo, Inc.

Flying Buffalo has always been run on a shoe string budget, Tunnels and Trolls has always been a C list game. It would be interesting to see what might happen if they had an infusion of cash and some marketing prowess provided to them.

D&D 5E My critic on VRGtR

No it is not a bad thing to give an audience what they want, it just feels like they gave a very narrow slice of the audience what they wanted. Maybe it is just me, but this book just falls flat and does not add much of anything interesting to the game.

D&D 5E My critic on VRGtR

Frankly, I found this book to be meh! A friend of mine commented that it feels like they went to the Reddit page and wrote down the things people wanted and went from there.

News Digest for the Week of April 9

Honestly, I hope they do an almost complete rewrite of Dark Tower. It is one of those modules that I have great memories about playing in it and running it back in the day, but rereading it today, it just does not stand up well. There many great ideas to be mined from the original, but it really...

    D&D General Candlekeep Questions

I have a small town named Foggy Bottom, just outside of Candlekeep where support staff live, along with many writers, historians and yes high level wizards. Anyone making trouble in Foggy Bottom would quickly find themsleves having to deal with the Home Owners Association and may the gods have...

D&D 5E Treating characters in the game as being part of a LitRPG novel/anime

I have actually ran a GURPS Cyberpunk game where the PC's all meet in a Virtual D&D game. There were two linked story lines running in parrellel, one in the real world (the cyberpunk game) and one in the virtual world (the D&D game) and we alternated games every week. It was interesting to see...

    D&D 5E Barbarian Fighting Styles

It is cool that you are willing to work with your players to make the game more interesting and fun for them. IMHO, Fighting Style does rise to the level of a Feat and there is a Feat available to those who want to take it without a dip into Fighter. There might be some concern that a Fighting...

    D&D 5E Barbarian Fighting Styles

My only concern with this is it opens the door to other swaps, like could a Fighter who just obtained 10th level substitute in Reckless Attack instead of taking a 2nd fighting style?

    D&D 5E Barbarian Fighting Styles

This would eliminate one of the reasons to be a Fighter rather than a Barbarian, plus there are at least two ways to get a fighting style if you are not a fighter, 1 level dip into Fighter and the Fighting Initiate feat. Dipping one or two levels into Fighter would also give the character other...

    D&D 5E Dante's Inferno on kickstarter

This might be fun, Judges Guild did a Dante's Inferno back in the day, although it came up short in many ways. Like a lot of modules back in the late 70's and early 80's, there was not a lot of detail and I know our DM at that time spent a lot of time fleshing it out for us.

D&D 5E 20th level Sorcerer vs the world

I also don't think he understood the real scale of being 650 feet in the air, at that height, I could put a dummy in the middle of the road, I would not even bother buying a wizards hat for it and he would not be able to tell the difference at that altitude. His entire strategy could be ruined...

D&D 5E 20th level Sorcerer vs the world

I think my biggest issue with the thread was, it was not about playing D&D in any meaningful way. It was simply about how very specific builds would be successful the majority of time given a very specific set of circumstance. I mean, would any of his builds been any more or less effective than...

D&D 5E 20th level Sorcerer vs the world

I kind of wonder if there was not a language barrier, it feels like he is using Google Translate or something similar.

AND here we go, did not even make it past the first action. This is why a DM is needed.

D&D 5E 20th level Sorcerer vs the world

That does not mean a dang thing, he might have been on vacation with time on his hands or he might have just went on vacation and is enjoying time with his family, or his day job takes him away from computers. I can think of dozens if not hundreds of things in life that are more important than...

D&D 5E 20th level Sorcerer vs the world

I would hope you knew better than to try it, since Distant does not work with Counterspell.

D&D 5E 20th level Sorcerer vs the world

Naw, he is meta gaming, he realized you took Sorcerer initiate and have some sorcery points of your own to burn, he is trying to move out of your extended range. Edit: I meant Metamagic Adept (Distant, Empower), not Sorcerer initiate.
