October 10th, 2004, 1000 hours. Cheyenne Mountain Complex, Strategic Command Headquarters, Level 4 (Command)

Bit of background (most of it unknown to you before now)…

Most of you (military personal) have been serving at the base for a couple of months, in the upper levels of the complex, providing security, etc. This is the home of NORAD, and is a very secure facility, but some pretty weird stuff has been happens here. Of the 1000 or so personal that serve on the base, almost 2/3 of them are civilians, and a lot of them are working on some rather 'dubious' stuff. Rumors of psychic studies, weather controlling devices, and alien invasion war game scenarios, etc. Not exactly things most of you expected that the U.S. of A. government would spend hard earned tax dollars on, but then who knows? So most of the Military personal (except those mentioned below) provides security for the 11 underground levels of the base and sounding area. There are rumors that the base has lower levels, but this is not something that you are encourage to 'discuss' or talk about.

Captain Ben Torie and 2nd Lieutenant Jerrell West, were both on the original mission 4 years ago, Project Gaza, that lead to the desert planet Abydos, and the confrontation with the Red Dragon Lord known as Ra' shaDoom' Khan. Egyptian based myths seemed to make the case that the Dragon Lord had appeared on Earth thousands of years ago as the God Ra but for some reason he left. The Dragon Lord command a great deal of 'strange' knowledge and planned on destroying the Earth by sending back a nuclear bomb that the Strike Team had brought with them (in case they had to destroy the gate on the other side) by enhancing it with "…necromantic energies that will destroy all life on your pathetic world. I created your civilization, it seems only fitting that it will now be destroyed by my hand…"

But against all odds, Captain Torie and Lt. West were able to trick the Dragon Lord, and escape Abydos as the bomb went off (they are the only two known survivors). It was assumed that the gate only opened to this one planet and that with the gate destroyed on the other side, Project Gaza was shut down and the lower levels of the Cheyenne Mountain Complex were mothballed. Both of the soldiers were promoted and set up here at the base as part of a small 'security' force within the lower levels of the complex (levels 12 through 28). While troubled by their experiences off-world, they return to a more normal military life.

But Lt. West was 'changed' and started having some strange dreams. One day he wandered into one of the storage rooms within the lower level of the base and picked up a strange dark green/black sword. The sword seemed somehow 'right' in his hands and he started practicing with it. Later it was determined that the weapon was found in a crate that was supposedly from the Gaza site where the Stargate was originally found, no sword like this was ever made at that time on Earth! And the metal of the sword is unlike anything ever encountered before.

Other strange occurrences started happening in and around the Cheyenne Mountain Complex. Strange lights were seen in the sky and the woods near by, but they could never be identified or located. Then weird sounds were heard in the corridors of the Complex, but again these 'events' could not be identified or located. Then one night on the upper levels, a group of strange little dog-faced lizard like creature appeared as if out of no where and attacked some of the civilians working there. Lt. West was 'drawn' there and easily dispatched the creatures with the sword he now carried. The beasts melted away into nothing after they died, and an investigation was immediately launched.

One of the civilian specialist on the base then came up with a very 'crazy' theory, that somehow when the gate was opened, Earth was exposed some kind of energy, call it mana or magic. Maybe because the gate had been sealed for so long that this magical energy had dissipated to nothing over thousands of years, but when it was re-open, that energy came back. This energy could be causing these problems and that this should be studied. It was also found that certain items from the ancient world, had strange powers that seemed to defy the natural order of things. So it was decided to re-open the lower levels to study and research these new phenomena (well only levels 12 through 23; the lower levels were still considered off-limits).

Lieutenant Simon Coville has been reassigned to this new research team and has gained some insight into magical theory and formulas (via his Knowledge - Arcane). Christopher Wolfe, a civilian specialist, was also assigned to this group, working on reverse-engineering some 'unknown' equipment that was recovered from a site in South America. He is also has been working on decipher some of the writing found at different sites around the world that seem to be related.

Then something happened a week ago and the base went into lock-down mode, no one in or out of the base under anything less then an Executive Order. None of your characters have any direct knowledge as to what caused this crises came about so you are not sure what is happening. Some of you might suspect, but no one knows. (those from the lower levels where off duty or doing something else where when this all happened)

Military personal is order to report to General George Hammond office on level 4 at 1000 hours. None of you have ever served with him before, and he seems to be a new commander of some black op that you have all been re-assigned to. Christopher Wolfe is also told to report to the General's Office at 10:00am that morning, no reason is given (as usual for these Military Types).

You all arrive outside the General's office at the appropriate time and can see each other's, along with 10 other military personal of various branches of the armed service. You are in your normal BDU's without weapons (except for Christopher of course, the only civilian here, dressed as he wishes) and can introduce yourselves to each other…

In a moment a Lieutenant Colonel comes out of the General's offices and says "Gentlemen, at ease. Would Major Torie, Lt. West, Lt. Minchen, Lt. McDhol, Lt. Coville, Master Sergeant Vasquez, Sergeant Johnson and you Mr. Christopher Wolfe please step into the General's office. The rest of you, follow me please. We have a lot to discuss"

[OCC] Go ahead and introduce yourself and give a quick description of your character. Then you will be going into the General's office to meet the 'man' and get the 'shock of your lives' (well not really but…) NOW I am not going to write up lots of the background info above again, the General will go over it, and you will each have a mission folder with all this and other information included. Lt. Minchen is about medium height (about 5' 4") compact build obviously in shape. He is darkly tanned and has blue eyes and brown hair.

He salutes any ranking officer's "I'm Lt. Zander Minchen" he look's relieved that he's done with his introduction "I don't suppose anyone know's why we are here?"

Sgt. Johnson is a bigger then average man, 6'5" very stocky. The southern sun beaten into his skin makes him look in his early 30's but is only 24. His black hair is kept short in marine fashion.

Well, Liuetenant, I do reckin' we'll be soon findin' out

Lt. Simon Coville

Lt. Coville entered the room, carrying a notebook and a couple of pens in hand. He stood about 6'1" with somewhat unruly black hair (short but curly) and black rimmed glasses. Simon's skin was kind of pale - like he didn't get out in the sun too much.

When Lt. Minchen asked his question, Simon just shrugged his shoulders.

[font=&quot]Lt. West is slightly above average in size (6'), and quite muscled. He is tanned, and has a few visible scars. His hair and eyes are brown.

"I'm Lt. Jerrell West." For a moment, Jerrell has a vision of Ra, thinking that it might have to do with Gaza. According to all we now, Ra should be dead, and the gate on Abydos destroyed. But not everyone was convinced that the gate only linked two worlds. With some events afterwards...

"Whatever the reasons are, it must be something big."

Lt. Locke McDhol files into the General's room behind the others. Being only of average height, standing 5'8", he was shorter than most of the other men in the room. He definately in shape, but built a lot leaner than the other soldiers as his job relied more on the lean muscle mass and ability to move around instead of strength.

Looking around he met the eyes of the other troopes with his own light blue eyes and shook his head, barely disturbing his short dark brown hair. "I really don't know what this is about myself."

"It'll be fine," Major Torie says, strolling calmly into the room. His hands are initially jammed into his pant pockets, though they pop out quickly enough when salutes begin to be tossed about. "I mean, what's the worst that could happen? We get assigned a suicidal death mission with no chance of success?"

Though he had meant the comment in jest, Ben couldn't help but notice the presence of Lt. West. He'd heard rumors and dug up a few unofficial reports on what had happened with the man since the "incident" through the portal. That he was here could only mean that this wasn't going to be your run-of-the-mill meeting...

Major Ben Torie is a caucasian man of average build, average height, average brown hair, average tanned skin...truth be told, there's simply very little worth noticing about him. With little noteworthy charistics, Ben is the sort of man who tends to melt right into whatever group he's standing with.

As the group files into the room they find that it is almost completely empty, only General George Hammond standing with his hands behind his back waiting for you. After returning your salutes he says "Gentlemen, at ease. This way please. We have an emergency situation on our hands and not much time..."

A large door at the back of the office open into an elevator that General Hammond directs you all to enter. When you are in, he hits sublevel 11. The whole time, the General does not speak and simply looks at each of you and waits…

A few moments later you are at sublevel 11, Water-Purification. The General says "This way…" and leads you down a long hallway. Around two more corners the group comes upon a Security checkpoint…with 8 fully battle dressed and armed soldiers. This is not an area most of you have ever been too, so what is check-point here doing here? After checking everyone's ID's, two Air Force Security officers go to opposite sides of the wall and insert keys into locks set there (about 20ft apart from each other). Another elevator opens on the back wall and again you are directed to enter.

General Hammond then hits level the button for sublevel 27 (27! this base is only suppose to have 11 sublevels?) and very quickly arrives at the level. More Air Force Security greets you and salute General Hammond. You are then escorted into a large conference room, with a table and seats for about 10 people and large LCD screen on the back wall with a USAF symbol.

Quickly you all file in and sit around the table. As you do the General clears his throat and says " Now I don't have to explain to you but I will say again that this meeting is a matter of National Security and the information that you are about to receive is Top Secret. Also, I want you all to understand that the information you are about to see is understandably… unbelievable. But it is true, so try and keep and open mind and remain quite until we get through it and then you will be see you the proof you will need. Gentlemen, the United States of America has just suffered an invasion of its sovereign soil by a hostile, outside force."

General Hammond types quickly onto the laptop and the LCD screen at the back of the room comes to life, showing a large, odd-looking circular device near a ramp (Major Torie and Lt. West recognize it instantly of course). Suddenly there is a strange burst of energy that comes from within the 'circle' and then a shimming watery like field is visible within the circle. Also a simmering picture within the hollow central circle shows a desert like field, simmering in and out of focus. "This gentlemen is what is referred to as a 'Stargate'. Found in Gaza in 1928, it was theorized that it was some kind of 'gateway' between worlds. Four years ago we figured out how to open it and sent a Recon patrol through the gate to find out what was on the other side. Major Torie and Lt. West where the only two survivors of that mission. It was believed that this 'gateway' was to only one other world… we were wrong. Seven days ago it opened by itself and we were attacked."

Typing another key, the LCD display shifts to a strange beautiful woman striding down a hallway. The picture if black and white, and looks like a wall security camera mounted on a wall. The woman is wearing furs of some kind and something like chainmail armor and carrying a large sword of some kind. Behind her are two… well they must be men in costumes, for they look like big pole bears, walking on two legs and carrying large axes and something like musket pistols. They are also wearing primitive like armor or leather and maybe chain.

More pictures show Air Force security personal exchanging weapons fire with more of the men in bear suits. One shows the woman again pointing at a group of soldiers under cover and they some "special effect" like wind and snow crashing into them and they fly back. General Hammond continues talking and the camera angle changes to different scenes.

General Hammond types an additional command and a number of screen turns to still photos of the woman, from different angles. "This woman, and we believe as many as 20 of these… 'hybrids', somehow activated the gate from a different world then our own, stepped through and attacked the research facility below this base. 19 Air Force security personal and 5 civilian contractors were killed in the assault. More disturbing, 14 civilian contractors and 12 Air Force security personal were kidnapped by these invaders and taken back though the gateway to their world."

"Gentlemen, we found a way to re-open this gateway back to the world were these…beings came through. You sirs, have been …drafted… by Executive Order, to assess the treat that this woman and the others pose to the U.S.A. and if possible to rescue those personal kidnapped during this raid. Some of them were in position of information that is sensitive to the defense of this nation."

General Hammond is silent for moment, looking at you all with deadly seriousness. But he gives you no time to ask questions… or laugh. Emergency lights and horn activates and the back wall behind the LCD starts to raise… standing many of you get your first look at it… the device…Stargate! Its' huge, at least 25 or 30 feet across, hollow in the center…

A older man wearing a lab coat and looking like a civilian contactor steps forward "When the gate was opened last week, we were able to get a reading from a…well scroll that we had recovered and were studying… that allows us to open the gateway between Earth and the world were we believe the… invaders came from. We can re-open the gate and send someone through to the other side…"

General Hammond speaks up and says "I know that this is a lot for some of you to take in, but we have little time, so please follow me. Security managed to kill one of the… hybrids, and we capture the beings weapons. Then we will have to discuss the details of your mission. We don't have much time. The President gave the go ahead for this mission only this morning, and you don't have much time."

Around the corner and a bit down the hall, you come into a room that has been set up as an emergency medical facility. There is only room for one bed… and on the bed is something straight out of a low-budget sci-fi…and yet, it looks so real! The creature really does look like a polar bear that could walk around on two legs, and must have stood at least 8 feet tall and weigh in around 500 pounds. It fur is white, except for where the chest cavity has been opened. Internal organs are in a number of trays set up near the bed; a heart, liver, a lung…

A woman in medical scrubs looks up and responding to General Hammond's nod she looks to you and says "Ah well, yes. If you want to know if this is just some large man in a bear suit, I can tell you right now that this… being was alive and was no man. Yes it had a heart, lungs, all the other organs that you would expect a living creature to have. At least one living on Earth, and I guess we can surmise on other worlds also. We have been slowly examining the being, and while I can not match its DNA with any known Earth based animal, this creature was a warm blooded mammal…"

General Hammond looks at you all "W have a mission for you all, and no matter how unbelievable it may seem, it is real and is a matter of National Security. The President has giving us one week. If we cannot resolve the situation and assess the situation to bring it to a safe solution, we will be burying the Stargate and the lower levels of this base under thousands of tons of concrete. We don't have much time…"

At this point, General Hammond looks at you and says nothing more…waiting for your replies.

Zander just stares at the 'hybrid' for a minute or so then he look's up at the general "Ok, what do we have to do to get ready?"
