Stargate/Dragonstar Season 1, Part 1 - Childern of the Gods

An unpleasant grimace sits on Ben's face, having appeared since shortly after the Stargate was revealed to the group. Much as he hated to admit it, Project Gaza was one of the few missions he'd ever come away from truly shaken; after all, it'd been a far cry from anything he'd ever experienced before. Huge stakes, mind-blowing revelations, alien life-forms...all culminating in a last-minute escape as Earth was saved from an insane force from beyond.

What was he going to do though? Say, "No thanks, I've had my fill"? He was one of the few with the slightest idea what they might be facing. To refuse to go simply because he was a little uneasy would be unthinkable.

Especially when he knew his misgivings wouldn't change whether or not a team was sent through.

"Hey, is that all?" Ben says, straining to put a smile on his face. "There was no need to draft me - of course you can count me in. And here I thought it was going to be something serious."

Al shakes his head, looking at the critter on the bed. "Madre de dios. It's like a monster, like bigfoot." Gulp. "What do we have to do?"

Lt. Simon Coville

"Gen. Hammond, we've seen the video on this assault, but is there any audio?" Lt. Coville asked. "I'm curious if there is a common language - some way to communicate with the goldilocks and her bears here, sir."

Looking ove the polar bear creature, Lt. Coville tried to remember any examples or descriptions in literature or mythology to compair to.

"Also, sir, I'd be interested in looking over the weapons and any other equipment found on the Coke bear," Lt. Coville finished.

Looking at the "polar bear", Lt. West mutters "Good thing it didn't melt away like those dog-like lizards..."

"General Hammond, apart from the attack by the woman, this ... "snow storm," have there been other indications of supernatural attacks, especially by these hybrids? What conditions and natives are we to expect on the other side?" he pauses, and considers asking about a dragon directly, but instead remarks "The ruler of the other planet, Ra, was extremely powerful. Are there any hints about that...?"

General Hammond nods at the group questions, but nods to the scientist first who speaks up "Ah yes sir. Ah well lets see, the polar bear hybrid here took three shots to chest cavity, four shots to the left arm and leg, and two shots to the head and neck area. The head shot is what killed it, but it was probably would have died of blood loss from the chest wound. It would appear that they are very resistant to damage, much like you might expect a normal bear of its size. A bullet to a vial organ will kill it, but unless it is a fatal shoot, it could act normally sometime before succumbing to blood lose.

And ah as for what language they speak, it was not English or any known Earth based language that have been able to determine. We have a number of audio recorders if you wish to listen to them.
"

The scientist then walks over to another table where a huge axe (it must weight a good 30 lbs) and a strange large looking musket pistol is sitting. There is a bandolier of large looking bullets also on the table. Passing one of the bullets around, the characters see that the 'casing' for the bullet feels like paper or parchment, not metal. There are also strange writing, something like Nordic runes on the paper and the bullet. 'We took apart a couple of these and the powder we found inside is like no explosives or gunpowder we have ever seen before. Its chemical compound make no sense and should not be flammable, and yet, when struck hard, it acts just like gunpowder. From the bodies of some of those soldier shot with this weapon, it seems to cause a terrible wound that one would normally except in a high-caliber weapon."

General Hammond then speaks up "We have had only one other 'attack' by such unworldly adversaries. About three weeks ago we suffered and attack by small, lizard like creature with dog like faces. They melted away after killed by Lt. West here. Also there was no evidence that the Stargate was activated. We are at a total lost as to where these creatures came from, but we have had one theory. That a 'scroll' recovered and brought back from Abydos, was somehow 'activated' by one of the scientist, and that these creatures where an extra-dimensional construct created by the scroll. That is all theory though, so we have no way of knowing if more will suddenly appear or not.

"Now then you will be leaving for this world within four hours. We believe that there is a device on the other side that will allow you to activate the Stargate from that side. We will be giving each of you a crash course on how to operate this device. It is imperative that we get daily updates from the other side, which you will be able to do by opening the gate from the other side and talking with normal radios.

"Equipment and weapons are already here, most of what you might want to request, along with all of your personal weapon here on base.

"We have tentatively name your team Stargate Command, Team 1 call-sign SGC-1. There is a support team being form at this time also that will support you at the site, Team 2, call-sign SGC-2. Your mission will be to cross over through the gate, setup a rallying point somewhere away from the gate, yet near by, where SGC-2 will set up and protect your supplies. Then you team will move off and explore the area. Your main objective is to determine the threat that this ice-woman and her hybrids might posses for this base, and the Earth as a hold. Your secondary mission will be to figure out where the ice-woman took our personal and if possible secure a rescue of said personal.

Zander look's like pure will-power is keeping his jaw from dropping to the floor several times during the general and the scientist talking then manages to recompose himself.

"Well then... I guess we'd better get to our course then load up and go"

Looking at Lt. McDhol, General Hammond says "As much forces as you and the team deems necessary Lieutenant. This base… this country has been attacked by a hostile alien force. You will be operating… on another world. These are not situations that we have any training for or protocol established, we are making it up as we go. If peaceful negotiations can be established with them so much the better, but we are not confident in this area, and we will not deal with kidnappers and terrorist who strike without provocation or warning."

Then meeting Lt. Minchen eyes, General Hammond nods his head and says "This way, we have a lot to cover in a very short time"

With this, you are lead into another room with a number of computers and workstations. Over the next hour or so you are each given a run down on how to operate the gate control, or what has been called the 'Dial Home Device'. You are also given instructions on theories about what you will be experiencing when you go through the gate.

It takes 18-20 seconds to activate the gate for it to open, by punching in seven 'chevrons' (the 'runes' on the device) at a set order for a particular gateway. There is a burst of energy, and then the gateway stabilizes and you get a shimmering, watery-like view of where you are going. It takes 10-12 seconds to pass through the gateway, and has been described as passing through molasses or pushing through semi-solid sandpaper. Once on the other side you can look back and see where you have come from, with the same watery-like view. It is unknown how long a gateway can be kept up, but so long as power is being feed into the Stargate, the 'doorway' remains open. At present though, it requires so much power that SGC has only gone for 10 minutes of continues use. It generally takes about an hour for the bases power capacitors to recharge enough for them to re-open the gate.

Once through the gateway, your mission is for Major Torie to assign a 'rally point' for both teams (a place where you can 're-rally' if anyone gets separated from the rest of the team or are attacked and have to breakup to disengage), find a place for 'base camp', set up a security perimeter (Team 2) and when he deems it appropriate, search the area to gather as much information as can be found about the strength of the enemy. Every 24 hours, if possible and not deemed to endanger the mission, you are to contact Stargate Command by re-opening the Stargate. You will be able to speak with Command via radio when the gate is open to Earth, and you do not need to be to near by to do it. Depending on the situation, you are to rescue those kidnapped, and to gather as much information that you can about the enemy and the greater world. Are there other Stargates? How many? What races and other information are there? Who created the Stargates? More details the forces of 'magic'? What kind of technology exists there?

"If for any case, you cannot contact Stargate Command, we will stay on station for 7 days. At the end of that time, by Executive Order, we will bury the gateway and you will be assumed MIA. You will be trapped there. Do you have any questions?"

Finally, you are all shown to Supply and all weapons and equipment requests are fulfilled as best they can be. You also meet up with Team 2, SG-2, who will be acting as a reserve for Team 1 and will be protecting your base camp.

General Hammond then leads Team 1 and 2 into the main Stargate access room, dressed out in all of your gear. The gate has not yet been activated, but there are twenty some soldiers already here in full combat gear, on duty to protect the base incase something comes through again.

At this point, you are about ready to head 'off-world'. Please update your characters with the equipment that you are carrying if you have not already done so. Final questions before you 'leave'

Lt West is glad to find his sword among the equipment, and sheathes it.
Karl Green said:
"Do you have any questions?"
"No, sir, I'm ready to go through the gate." Again. The last time, we found a desert world, and death. Most of our team died on Abydos. This time, we know a bit more of what we face.
