Latest news on the GSL front from Scott Rouse is that it's coming after January 4 (WotC is closed from Christmas through January 4)
All I want for Christmas is a revised GSL - Wizards Community
I'm still not holding my breath:cool:
also, this topic is discussed in the following threads:

While you're here, what's your take on the 'official' 4E power cards? are you going to buy any? Use fan made ones? Not use any at all?
What about the link in my first post? Do you know if wotc has stated whether or not these 'eight pack displays' are eight different packs, or eight copies of the same exact packs?

I agree that they are ugly as well! Here's to hoping the printed cards are better.

How do I check out the SKUs?

On the wizard's product site.

And yeah, 4e's third party support < 3e, but it's still > the rest of the industry for the most part. Unless there's a bunch of third party WoD stuff I don't know about sitting on a shelf next to the Green Ronin Rolemaster expansions, not to be confused with Mongoose's The Quintessential Drifter expansion for Traveler. (Unless mongoose published Traveler, can't remember off hand)

I mean yeah, in terms of 3pp there was some great stuff--Three Days to Kill was one of my favorite adventures -ever- but I can understand them not going so open with it.

Compared to their previous stance, yeah it's restricting, but compared to the rest of the industry, they're still ahead of the curve. After all, not many systems followed suit on the OGF that they'd set up -for free-. So what's the point of continuing it?

I think the displays are the assorted decks of cards, but I'm not entirely sure on that. Might be worth going onto Wizard's product site and checking a few SKUs out to be sure.

On the wizard's product site.
Thank you, DracoSuave, but I think i'm missing something... okay; here's the wotc product release page for dungeons and dragons [sorted by date]:

And here are the power cards, first the display, then each of the separate class decks:

Okay; the only numbers that I can see that are similar on wizards and amazon are the "ISBN-13" numbers, that's it. Neither wizards nor amazon give any information about the product except for isbn-10, isbn-13, price, and product number, but that's counting both sites together. I'm thinking that the product number on wizard's site may be the SKU, but how do I determine that for sure?

Also, if wizard's product number is indeed the SKU, what do I do with this SKU information to determine whether or not the power card display will contain eight different decks or eight copies of the same deck? This is what i'm not understanding.

Personally, I'm collaborating with a forum user from another site to make a power card generator, I am debating myself as to whether or not to get the WotC cards for my group but being that I am currently working on writing a campaign setting to be published or not depending on the revised GSL that will include powers not originating from WotC and thus not be present in the official power card packs, I'm hoping the GSL will allow for power card creation for ones own products myself

Well here's to hoping you and the other forum user get that power card generator working and good luck getting your campaign setting published, as well as being able to print out new power cards!

An SKU is a product number, but it also refers to distinct products. So if there's a product number for the display, and for the seperate boxes, it means they sell both of them either individually or as a set. The product number for the display then, indicates that they DON'T have seperate numbers for cases of the boxes, which means the only wholesale option is a single display of all eight.

In other words... the display is all eight in one.

Ah! Okay, I think I understand you now. What you're saying is "since there is only one product number for the display box, the display box includes one pack for each class; IF the display box had multiple product numbers, OR if there were multiple display boxes with different product numbers, then we would have known that each display box was eight of the exact same deck". Is that correct? I really appreciate the info, DracoSuave. Also, happy holidays, everyone.

No, definetily I'm not going to spend money in a "product" that I can do myself!
Cool; So, are you going to use some fan made power cards? Which ones do you like the most? Do you plan to print them on thin cardstock, regular paper, something else?

Possibly a Idiot.
I dislike the card format for keeping track of powers. I prefer a booklet, that way I can set the font to a size I can read easily, and even reference my feats and class features without having to search the hardback all the time.

I do see the benefit of a booklet, however they are very character specific which can make them pricier for when you have multiple characters or when you have to retire characters
