I heard that they're going to skip 4th edition altogether and create a 5th edition instead. I heard it from Larry, the local store owner. He also said that WotC is getting bought out from White Wolf. Larry should know, he operates a game store after all.

You can't have a 5th without a 4th :)

sigh. 4th edition Dungeons and Dragons. It's mention on the Home page.

It was a joke. Obviously there will be a 4E one day, but it certainly isn't planned for any time in the foreseeable future.

Nope.

I have the inside skinny.

WoTC will go to a new naming convention with the next edition.

It will be called D&D XP.

It will only cost $5 when it comes out but you will need to pay $5 every year to stay current or they will send goons by to pick up your books.

..and some of my older adventures will not be compatible with it what so ever, but it'll look nicer anyway.. :)

I assume you are talking about this...

You will probably have heard of Sword & Sorcery's upcoming Relics & Rituals II. When the original R&R was released a couple fo years ago, there was quite a buzz of excitement - the D20 industry was only just starting and this was one of the very first major books available. Unfortunately, no book generates that sort of buzz any more (not even WotC books!), so we'll all have to wait until 4th Edition before we can start feeling that way again. However, enough of my rambling - Sword & Sorcery have posted the book's preface (the preface was written by Monte Cook).

Read it again. And if you don't understand by then, well, you can continue to dread the arrival of 4th Ed.

I'll just d-load the service packs for D&D XP, find a crack or keygen and make it all work. :D
