The Kobold stares at the crossbow the entire time, even after it was directed away from him. At each new voice he startles, almost as if he expects to be struck. When it doesn't come he almost looks more nervous.

Finally, he gets up enough courage to speak again. "Me name Grody, going to sch... School! Came with others... All eated..." He finally breaks eye contact as he looks down sadly. "Only Grody get away..."

OOC: The flail does an extra 1d6 of cold damage on a hit. It still works, but it won't upgrade now that its original owner is dead.

Okay, great. How are we handling weapon proficiency? A flail is martial, so... Not worried about Asherah's spear, since it's a simple weapon.

Asherah put a hand on Grody’s shoulder. “Worry not, then, friend,” the tabaxi said. “Join us on our way to the academy. We are but a day out,” she told him. “With hope, we may avoid further danger on the road.”

She looked around at the others. “It is light, so we should find something to break our fast and head out. We can likely find sustenance back at the priest’s home. He will not need it any longer,” she said sadly.

Grody startles slightly at the touch. But after a moment relaxes a bit. He pulls away from the Tabaxi though, looking more sad than anything for a good long moment though he looks up to her face as his former aggressor walks away. "Th... Thank you."

OOC: Asherah feels some sort of bony protrusion through Grody's clothing. A bit ragged and... It seemed to wiggle back and forth a bit with the touch.

The group makes it back to the chapel, instead of moving on to the Academy. They reach the chapel by morning, and gather up the food that was prepared for them by the priest. If anyone decides to search the chapel, there isn't much that would interest them.

As they leave the chapel, a man approaches. He is wearing a traveler's cloak, and has a week's worth of beard. He isn't unkempt, but he obviously don't take too much care about his appearance, either.

"Well, who might y'all be?" he says with a slight accent. "Friends o' the priest? Lookin' for a bit o' healin'? Where is Ol' Henarius? Sleepin' off last night's sacrificial wine?"

The man seems friendly enough, and his smile never leaves his face.
