During a card game the first night, one of the guards informs him that he's seen something flying from one of the buildings back and forth to the Battle Market - he reports that it looks about human sized, but there's something odd about it's form. More than that he can't say - due to the distance and the fact that he's only seen it moving about at dusk he's not been able to get a good look at it.
