OOC: Somehow, I got it into my head that Phyrah is the God of Wind, not Halor, and it's proving to be a difficult 'fact' to kick. Any time I've said "Phyrah" in this adventure, I probably meant Halor. Sorry to confuse you so.
OOC: Blasphemer! Burn the unbeliever!

"Rias, when is your next trial?" Shadya asks over dinner.

Sorry to intrude. Phyrah is the goddess of the wind.
A daughter of Verdante, Phyrah is the wind, a seeking goddess, questing endlessly over all the lands. She aids and hinders those who are on journeys, long or short.... Her clerics may be of any neutral alignment and embody the different forms of wind, steady trade winds, unpredictable gusts, spring breezes and storming gales.
Halor is the god of the sky and weather.

OOC: Hmm! The deities worshiped by the Sairundani may be less obvious than I thought, then! Halor is a Greater Deity, while Phyrah is only a demigod, but Phyrah is the goddess of the wind... I'm pretty sure that Halor is the master of the Tower of Air, but Phyrah is possibly closer to the hearts of the Sairundani...

Knight Otu, any comments?

(When I first wrote up Sairundan, Halor didn't exist yet, I believe. He certainly has a following among the Sairundani people, though I'd say that Phyrah is more popular among them than her status would imply. She may even be as popular as (or more than) Halor.)

OOC: Okay, that's what I'm thinking now too. To clear things of the past up, Gram is a devotee of Phyrah, and Hayder pays homage to both, though he has personally mentioned Halor a couple of times. Thanks for the clarifications, both of you.

Rais pushes his lamb around on his plate. "Two days from now. I am... I am very anxious," he says with a weak smile.

"So it is good that you arrived when you did! I consider it a sign of good fortune that you have made it in time for your brother's rites," says Hayder.

"Yes, the gods are smiling on this family, I can see that," Gram adds. "Too bad I can't say the same for ol' Sabil. 'E's in a bad state, 'e is. Actually, maybe you all know something about 'is predicament."

"Ah, yes, Shadya. You remember Arumina yn Sabil, yes? Did you hear anything in the wetlands? What about you all? Oh, I apologize, of course you have no idea what I speak of. Sabil ai Jamil Habul is the Patriarch of the Hurakan tribe. His daughter disappeared two years ago, and the commonly held theory is... well, is that the orc tribes have kidnapped her." Gram gives Hayder a skeptical look, and Hayder shrugs. "That is the public opinion, anyway. I reserve my judgment, as we have no clear evidence that she was kidnapped at all. I wonder if perhaps any of you have heard anything about her?" Hayder asks.

[sblock=Shadya: ]Yes, of course you remember her, that's part of the reason your father ushered you out into the world so early.[/sblock]

"I never heard 'a anybody by dat name. But my life was pretty sheltered till just a bit before I got to Orussus and was hired on by Shadya to escort her here. The one Orc camp I saw in the wetlands, I was the only prisoner 'dat I knew of." Kurgahz says between mouthfuls of the delicious food.

[sblock=Rae]OOC: Yes, I'm aware. She's actualy a PC isn't she?[/sblock]

"Oh, I've not heard a thing about her in the wetlands, but I was not looking for her either, and there is much of the wetlands I did not visit," Shadya says. "I've no reason to believe the orcs would do that though. The tribe we ran into on our way down here was worried about unprovoked attacks from us, and gave us no reason to believe they felt the deserved to be attacked otherwise."

"The only Sairundani I have seen in the...middle lands other than Shadya yn Hayder is Tandi di Lune," Lasair offers helpfully.

(OOC: Might be the PC in question under an alias, but Lasair does not know)

Insert Cludge's response here. (I assume AGFlynn's celebrating the holiday season, as am I!)

Hayder looks thoughtful at the mention of Tandi. "Tandi di Lune? Strange name for a Sairundani." Gram crinkles his nose, "Sounds like a newfangled Haboob name. Lune, huh! Probably the name o' some star or some big rock somewhere, not Tandi's mother or father at all. That tribe's barely even Sairundani anymore."

Rais counters, "Gram, the Haboob are as noble a tribe as any of the Sairundani. I traveled with several of their number these past months, they were courageous and steadfast." Shadya's older brother seems rather upset over Gram's harsh assessment.

[sblock=Shadya and Lasair: ]Rais is more than upset, he's downright offended.
[sblock=Shadya: ]Something in his eyes, as he talks about the Haboob's nobility and bravery... You've seen that look before, in the eyes of lovestruck boys and girls. But you know your brother well enough to see that this is no puppy love.[/sblock][/sblock]

Gram just grunts and fills his mouth with food. Hayder raises his eyebrows and changes the subject. "Well then, if you have not seen her, I cannot say I am surprised. But Sabil's time is up. After Rais' trials, the Rites will begin, when Dervishes are blessed and marriages are entered. Arumina's marriage to Fariq would have been celebrated, but instead Kaida yn Jamil will marry Abdar ai Typhoon. To be honest, I think it is a good turn of events. Arumina never seemed happy with Fariq, and Kaida is absolutely enamored with her husband to be."

Gram, finished chewing, comments, "Mmm. Abdar's a good man, but Kadar, I don't like 'im. I bet Abdar was relieved when Sabil made 'im son of Typhoon, I'd 'ate to 'ave that man's name attached to mine." Hayder shakes his head but does not disagree, Rais continues eating.

You notice a tenseness descend upon the table. Even Amin and Rafiq no longer wear smiles on their faces. Most of your meals are finished. Hayder says, "The orc tribe that you encountered on the way here. Can you tell us more about them?" He provides no comment on Shadya's mention of an unprovoked attack. His tone has changed from lighthearted small talk to a more businesslike manner.

[sblock=Minor OOC: ]I've been trying to do my homework on this one, I really have, but I've managed to confuse more names. =P Sabil is Sabil ai Habul, not whatever I said a few posts back. If you notice a funky discrepancy, please bring it to my attention, because getting the names straight will probably be more important in this adventure than in other, more dungeon-delve oriented adventures.[/sblock]
