[Adventure] A Boy and His Dog (DM: stonegod; Judge: r1)

The End (Or it it? (Yes it is))
As the last globule settles, Vimak and Sapo tend to Johanna and Lhavarr who manage to recover after a few moments. Torqua frantically searches the rubble of the cave-in for Elkrysn and the boy. She find the latter, luckily unhurt, near what appears to have been an entrance to another tunnel that had been partially revealed by the cave-in. He is breathing steadily, still unconscious. Of the drow, no sign is seen.
As the group recovers, it is clear that the fell pall that had fallen over the cave is diminishing. There are signs of several others who had been lead to this place, those that had fallen and been absorbed by the alien presence in the stone. It was lucky the group arrived when they did, for it would have been the boy's.
As it was already the dog's.
The litter of the dead contains several items of interest that the group salvages as they are of little use to the dead. Vimak is particularly called to a simple stone with an astral rune of protection, likely valuable to the right divine smith. A rough wooden figure of a sitting man with a forked tongue is passed up by everyone but Sapo, who feels kinship with the item. Lhavarr claims a worn, but intact, set of chain armor in the hopes that it will protect him better that his common set. That leaves a heft spear of Nothron make and a plane dagger that warms to the Fire Mage's touch which are split between the final two women. Some coins are also found and distributed.
Sapo leads the way back from the cave, her head having cleared with the death of the abomination. They see no trace of "Cleansers" they had seen previously, and the white fluid has dissipated, the source of the taint gone. Soon, they are back in open air, the sun dwindling to night.
The fresh air awakens the boy somewhat. The group is able to get his name (Bryan) and where he lives. Tucked into his belt is a scrap of the Screamer detailing the exploits of an adventurous band that had cleanses the sewer of some evil; apparently the boy had the same idea, thus leading to his misfortune. Nothing is said of the dog when it is asked after. That pain will have to come later.
In a middling affluent district of Daunton, Bryan's parents are found, fearful but now grateful for he reappearance. They welcome the party into their home, ignoring the rancid smells on them, feeding them well and providing them with a generous reward of more coins for saving their boy. The mother asks about the dog (named "Courage"), but the father sees the look in the party's eyes and puts his arm on her elbow. No more is asked.
Late in the evening, the group is released into the dark Daunton streets, with more wealth and woe than they before they had left. And thus ended the adventure of the Boy and his Dog.[sblock=Coda]Thanks everyone! Hope y'all had fun. Apologies for delays.[/sblock]

[sblock= OOC] Thanks to everyone involved, especially Stonegod, for a good adventuring time. Do you know where the Whirlwind spear is from? I don't have DDI, and I haven't seen it in any of the books I've checked so far (though I haven't made an exhaustive survey). See everyone on the other side of the holiday. [/sblock]
