Making their way out of the canyon, pups and party heads past the many bone fixtures, up the steep rocky hill and back to the path to the town of Skald you recently left. Checking the map Akriel gave you, you remember that you can take the road north out of Skald into the realm of Gundarak where her love, Dr. Dominiani's keep lies (to deliver the crown to him). At a fork in the road the women thanks you again and bids the party farewell, assuring them that she can make it back to her home safely.
Day turns into night by the time the party arrives at Skald. The once clear skies now torrent rain and forks of lightning rip across the sky and perch briefly upon weather vanes and lightning rods before vanishing into the night with a tremendous crash of thunder. The battering rain falls in terrific cascades that fill the air with an incessant hammering sound. The paved roads are slick, the unpaved ones impossible to travel on. All in all, it is the sort of night that one expects to die on.
As you travel further in town you find that few of the townsfolk are out and about in the deluge, and those who are look as if their business is nefarious at best. Here and there, a more honest looking citizen makes a dash from house to house, doing his best to avoid becoming soaked to the skin as he travels. Oddly enough, the cruel weather seems not to have darkened the spirits of those at the Old Kartakan Inn, for even from a distance you can see the warm glow of its lights and hear the melodic singing of its patrons. Perhaps you can find warmth and comfort there, but on a night like this it seems unlikely.
As you enter the inn, dripping water on the lush carpets, you find the concierge from before has gone home for the night. You find however that the great sound and song is coming from the bar area. Perhaps you can inquire about accommodations there.
