"To actually answer your question, miss, the hag is dead, and it is safe. But we still should be leaving."
Yes, I want to get out of this place. the woman says.

The party makes their way back to the entrance of the cave. The whole place seems less menacing with the death of its caretaker. Thankfully no ghostly creatures pop out of the pits or traps bar their way on the return trip.

Soon the party is greeted with daylight from the outside and with the view of the surrounding canyon walls. In the distance you can hear whining and yelping. The wolf pups seemed to have sensed your arrival.

What is that noise? the women asks looking scared again.

BY THE LORDS OF AWESOME, THE PACK IS IN NEED!

Sir Exsixten bounds off, dropping to all fours in a bizarre clanking gait towards the end as he rushes towards the tree. He lets out another eerie mechanical howl and begins to dig into the barricade he build to protect the pups free with his bare hands.

The pups rush out of their enclosure and leap onto Sir ExSixTen, barking and licking his faceplate. They seem happy to see him.

Making their way out of the canyon, pups and party heads past the many bone fixtures, up the steep rocky hill and back to the path to the town of Skald you recently left. Checking the map Akriel gave you, you remember that you can take the road north out of Skald into the realm of Gundarak where her love, Dr. Dominiani's keep lies (to deliver the crown to him). At a fork in the road the women thanks you again and bids the party farewell, assuring them that she can make it back to her home safely.

Day turns into night by the time the party arrives at Skald. The once clear skies now torrent rain and forks of lightning rip across the sky and perch briefly upon weather vanes and lightning rods before vanishing into the night with a tremendous crash of thunder. The battering rain falls in terrific cascades that fill the air with an incessant hammering sound. The paved roads are slick, the unpaved ones impossible to travel on. All in all, it is the sort of night that one expects to die on.

As you travel further in town you find that few of the townsfolk are out and about in the deluge, and those who are look as if their business is nefarious at best. Here and there, a more honest looking citizen makes a dash from house to house, doing his best to avoid becoming soaked to the skin as he travels. Oddly enough, the cruel weather seems not to have darkened the spirits of those at the Old Kartakan Inn, for even from a distance you can see the warm glow of its lights and hear the melodic singing of its patrons. Perhaps you can find warmth and comfort there, but on a night like this it seems unlikely.

As you enter the inn, dripping water on the lush carpets, you find the concierge from before has gone home for the night. You find however that the great sound and song is coming from the bar area. Perhaps you can inquire about accommodations there.

"I've never been one for inns and bars," Dorn says. Raindrops flow down his yellow-streaked hair, the acidic mixture discoloring the ground.

"Nevertheless, I think this will do just fine, don't you, friends?"

Andras grimaces as he missteps with his bad leg, but he twists his mouth into something resembling a sarcastic grin. "Yes, this looks like a good place to find a barber-surgeon. Or at the very least, a chair."

SIR EXSIXTEN NEVER STOPS PARTYING, THIS IS THE PLACE FOR HIM!Sir Exsixten says, walking towards the bar. LET'S DO THIS.

He lets out a long howl and strides to the bar with his pups in tow.

When you enter the room you find that the bar is kept dimly lit. Smoke fills the air. The humans in the room are what in the more elite circles would call "common". A few are singing, most are drinking or eating and two are even fist fighting in one corner. With Sir ExSixTen's entrance the more sober look up from their tables for an instant and then go about their business like nothing has happened.

The majority of the eastern half of the room is taken up with a sunken area that contains the bar and several tables. A wide variety of bottles and glasses stand on a heavy shelf, readily available to the barkeep. The western wall of the room is composed of a long row of dark brown curtains screening off three alcoves. The curtains covering the center one hangs open, revealing a round table and several stout chairs around it. Whispers can be heard from behind the other two, but curtains are so thick that they make it impossible to overhear the discussions beyond.

As you walk up to the bar area itself a aging bartender sporting a dark beard flecked with grey and a milky eye with a scar across his face walks up to the group from behind the bar. What can I get you gents. he says to Sir ExSixTen.

Glancing about the room you notice some of the more drunken patrons seem a bit unusual. Most look like normal humans but some are a bit too hairy, others seem to have longer teeth than normal.

Once you swear you see somebody with a dog-like muzzle, but when you look back to get a better look it is gone. Perhaps it was your imagination.
