"A hundred twenty five?" wonders a previously unnoticed, but heavily armed, halfling decked out mithral mail. "For the round trip? No details on what we're delivering... No idea as to who might be out to get us... No guarantees for bonus pay, except what hand-me-down loot we can scrounge off of any bush-wacking bandits we may happen to run across...

"I remember what happened the last time someone tried to sucker me into a job like this." The inconspicuous halfling puts his hood back up and turns as if to make for the door. "Hell, I could make as much playing cards at the Inn... and stay warm and well-fed doing it."

"Bah!", grunts the balding man. "That pay is just to get there. Halflings." He sneers.

The nimble one grins. "One hundred twenty-five gold apiece is more than adequate compensation for the trip considering we are covering the expenses of travel. The goods must be obtained before we negotiate pay for escorting them back home." He then disappears through the archway. James heads to the door, ready to close it as everyone leaves.

"Okay, then. We will meet in another time." The hatted man touches his brim with his forefinger and exits.

"But of course, 125 gold is plenty for me. Not to mention I get a free ride to Fallon and back! I suppose I don't need much as far as equipment goes, but I'd suggest lots of food!" Fimble winks and gives a lazy Medibarian salute. "I'll be in the tavern, as you request. Coming along, Raena?"

"Sure, Fimble, just a second." Raena turns to James. "I assume food is a given, but I'd like to request extra bolts for our small crossbows. They'll surely come in handy. I'll see you guys later. I'm ready, my good gnome." She throws out her chest and regally walks out the front door, her arm in Fimble's. Then she laughs and runs off, dragging him across the stone. Again.

a day later, outside the Red Dragon.

As you step outside the Red Dragon you realize that the night has been replaced by day, though the wind remains. Dust is blown about the streets and most must walk about holding their hats and such. The temperature is quiet moderate, however.

In the center of the street is a very large wagon unlike most have seen before. It is about forty-five or so feet long and twelve wide. It stands tall, with ramparts atop it, both for and aft. It is pulled by four large warhorses in leather barding. The interior of the wagon is accessed from the rear, where the entire back portion is a heavy, large door that drops to the ground as a ramp.

"It is a Hendrallian war-wagon." Charles explains, "They are used to carry a considerable number of elite footman into a battle with speed and protection. The door on the back can be dropped to quickly load or unload troops while the archers atop the wagon provide cover. This particular wagon was built by yours truly. I am a bit of a connoisseur of the Hendrallian war machine. This should provide plenty of protection for our goods. Right now it is full of some valuables from the Vestermarch cities that must be delivered to merchants in Fallon. We usually use the five points caravan to transport our goods, but since we are heading that way."

The balding man shows himself from atop the wagon. He waves and yells down, "Hello!"

I am a sorry drawer, but i just wanted to show you what the wagon looks like from the top.

Anton smiles, "Hello for you as well." He then waves a greeting to the man on top. "We are to enter the back, then, or is that too full? Can you tell us about how many days is the trip?" Anton walks towards the back to tug on the door.

"Not inside. On top." Charles says with a smile.

The balding man leans over to offer a hand to Anton. "The name's Drath. It is over 300 miles to Fallon. That is our first stop and it isn't even half way to Tharol. What of your mule? She gonna follow the wagon?"

"She will have trouble keeping up. You can keep her in our stables, at the manor. I will pay Joe to have someone take her over there. She will be well cared for." Charles offers.

"Oh, even better. The fresh air will make the trip seem shorter to me. ... Oh, Fyodor will indeed have trouble to keep up. Let me at least get my waterskin. I thank you for the stabling." Anton goes to say goodbye to his trusty steed and then makes his way to the top of the wagon.

OOC:
[sblock]Is there an obvious way to get on top, like a ladder, or do I have to make a climb check or what? If so, I'll ask for some help.

If Charles already has plenty of waterskins (I think he mentioned we'd have bedrolls and camping equipment), then I won't bother with that.[/sblock]
