"There is a open half circle, of open area on the other side of this plant gathering. . .woods. Not sky. We should head there directly."

Raiko keeps his toe into the dirt twice and then makes for the forest.

Map is up. At this point, they will have heard you coming for a good distance and Raiko won't be hidden but let's see how Ashir and Haruka fare.

Put Max somewhere on row 25.

DC is 16, if you beat that, you are hidden at the beggining of the fight.

Put the other PCs within 6 square of Max.

The forest is fairly dense. Green square are difficult terrain, brown are obstacles (thick trunks).

It isn't as bad as near the for, though, as far as visibility is concerned.

Counting from the attacker, the third intervening green square causes concealment and the sixth causes major concealment. There is no LOS after 8 square.

Trunk potentially provide cover; remember that cover and concealment stack quite well (concelament is a penalty to attack and cover is a bonus to AC or Reflex).

At this point, you are out of sight but not of earshot. People who start hidden can maintain their status by the usual stealth rules and it's quite possible you'll get another shot at stealth if you start your round still out of LOS.
