Ashir stays a bit back from the others, remembering the explosive power of the archers and bunching up would make all of them a target rather than just one of them.

Haruka moves through the woods, her form suddenly obscured as though covered with a blot of black ink. Unfortunately, while it conceals her exact location, it also makes her much more noticeable.

Stealth, including the -5 for moving quickly: Hah, a 2 isn't going to cut it. I also fail perception.

Regarding the god's powers, all of their effects require proximity to the rock. Is Raiko our "rock" for the current encounter? If so, is he a large rock or a small rock?[/sblock]

And Raiko is a large rock.[/sblock]

A large mass crashes through the forest, startling the heroes, and charges Raiko. As it comes in sight, it appears to be a huge tamed bear. Tamed because it bears a collar and apparently obeys his master. Quite bestial otherwise!

Raiko manages to keep it at bay with his shield.

The archer launches a surprise attack and sends an explosive arrows near Haruka but the trunk protects her and she is fine.

Raiko brings up his sword as the bear comes barreling in and with a resounding "Squakaaaaaaaaaaaaa!" goes to feint and then brings up his shield.

Keeping the bear engaged with his sword and shield he meditates on the world around him for a moment. Quick streaks of light shoot out along the grass and then to Raiko's allies granting them a boon.

Ashir looks around quickly for any further enemies concealed by the foliage, but he can't make out anything besides the bear so he steps forward and launches a larger-than-normal blast of flames that catches the enemy in its rear.

Max does a quick scan of the surrounding area and finds what he wants. He moves foward to a location that provides cover from the archer and flanks the bear with Raiko. Once there he unloads with a viscous attack, stabbing the bear in the back. The bear arches his back in pain, which allows an opening to Raiko, who swings and misses.

ooc: Uh, Dimsdale, didn't you use both your sword's power and an AP last fight? Also, we can't shift anywhere, since it's all difficult terrain.

"A bear? That's a new one. Here I was worried that it was another panther," Haruka mutters as she flicks a bolt of deep red fire at the animal. The flames miss, landing on a nearby tree branch and scorching the wood before burning out quickly. Haruka sighs before calling back to her comrades in their shared tongue, "The bear is large and scary, yes, but I think our attentions would be better spent on its handler. That way he can't fill us with arrows while we wear ourselves out on his beast."

Haruka hears a slithering noise and turns in alarm. Sensing it has been discovered, a snake-like drake with short legs explodes in motion and tries to tear into the warlock's legs but, forewarned, she deftlly dodges.

Doing so puts her in teh line of sight of the archer and she takes an arrow for her trouble.

The other archer finally shows up and goes to work on Max.

The Bear roars in rage but fails to shake off his attackers.
