Kane grits his teeth, driving his blade through the air once more, reaching out to the hunter that has nearly battered through the link that holds Jade to the present with its vicious blows. "What do you fear creature" he growled out loud. And then at last he grasped a strand of the creature's psyche, intruding its mind like a sharp needle. For a moment the creature turned its head over its shoulder as though it had heard the distant cry of a feared predator a step higher on the food chain, then flattening itself instinctively to the ground.

Seemingly realizing threat has passed, Owlbear hunter rises from the ground and scans for immediate threats. Spotting Kane's fey beast, it hoots in rage and attacks mercilessly. Jade manages to dodge single swipe, but owlbear's second swipe connects. Kane's sword flares and burning aegis forms before fey beast, but owlbear tears right through it and Jade fades from view, magic connecting it to this world severed.

Owlbear madowl hoots softly and turns its gaze on Vermithrax and his sash. It shakes itself like a wet dog would, shaking off grip of necromancer's sash and rises its talons menacingly. After quick glance around, it keeps its focus on Vermithrax and uttering single piercing hoot charges at him, talons swiping wildly. Vermithrax attempts to evade coming talons, but beast seems to move far faster then its size would indicate, delivering series of blows. While enchanted robes and experience in many battles save necromancer from being torn to shreds, monster's talons still cause series of wounds and throw him off balance. Seeing that prey still lives and fights, creature hoots once producing strangely alluring sound.

As creature's talons push him off balance and throw him to the ground, Vermithrax hears beautiful melody of creature's hooting. While fully aware that monster is doing its best to tear him into ribbons and devour what remains, he cannot help himself from appreciating the sound. While having trouble in breaking his gaze from the monster, he is somehow sure that creature is watching and will pounce if he attempts to attack its pack-mates.

Third beast finds that Martelai is no longer within its reach and hoots. Obviously content with idea of shredding nearest prey, it charges directly toward Kane, its hoot going up in intensity. Standing over Kane, it delivers furious flurry of blows. Screeching of monster mixes with sound of steel striking steel and crack of magic as each of its blows meets Kane's sword and magic and after several moments it is apparent that Kane went through the onslaught unscathed. Obviously disturbed at its failure to eviscerate prey, creature lets loose screeching hoot. Stumbling, Kane and Lerrick shake off effects of invisible assault to find out they unknowingly took few steps in wrong direction.

Lerrick, noticing one of the beasts is too close and being one to avoid physical melee whenever possible, moves away from the threat as well as get into a position to aid Vermitrax. First the cleric closes her eyes briefly, saying a silent prayer, then opens them now bright silver. She points her hand towards the magic user, who immediately feels a surge of healing warmth move throughout his body. Lerrick then gazes at the beast above magic user. Back away fey beast! The beast's will is too strong for Lerrick's magic. However, Kane, Cyr, Vermetrax and the cleric feel and the cleric's armor glows a faint silver which indicates to all of them that their defenses have improved.

Kane feels the link to Jade sever and reaches out and mentally drags his fey companion back into the here and now. A trickle of blood spills from his ear from the effort. Jade reappears, this time next to the owlbear that had set upon Kane. Kane takes advantage of the beast's surprise at his companion's appearance and with a slash of his sword through the ear he reaches in to grasp hold of the savage creature's mind. The owlbear's eyes glaze over and it trots over to its companion standing over Vermitrax, snarling as though it were about to set upon its ally at a moments notice. And then the air around Kane exploded into a shower of radiant light knocking the hunter a few feet further away from the fallen necromancer. Jade then pads fearlessly up next to the mad owlbear, snarling treateningly.

As blast of radiant light washes over Owlbear Hunter, searing its feathered form and causing deep burns, creature screeches in pain and fury. Shockwave of its screech echoes across the battlefield, deafening everyone for the moment and overwhelming Vermithrax. Blood dripping from many wounds, monster hoots furiously and puffs up its feathers, seemingly becoming larger and more threatening.

Lilli tries to seize control of two of the Owlbear's wills to make them attack each other by making both of them see the other Owlbear as a more threatening source of dinner instead of Vermithrax.

The Owlbear that she's been picking on has it's likeness captured by Lilli's magical crystal when she raises it to her eye and views the beast through the orb.

[sblock=actions] Standard Action: Lilli casts Phantom Echoes into square F10, targetting the on the Owlbear Madowl (suffering from Phantom Echoes from the previous round) and the Owlbear Hunter #2. If they fail their save, they can attack one another as below.

Phantom Echoes (Encounter Standard Area Burst 2within 10 squares Arcane,Fear, Illusion)
Target: Each creature in the burst.
Effect: Each creature is slowed until the end of your next turn. Also untilthe end of your next turn, the first time the target makes an attack, it mustmake a saving throw. If the saving throw fails, you can use a Free Action tochange the target of its attack to a different creature within the range ofthat attack. If the target hits one of its allies with that attack, that allytakes 5 extra damage.


FEAT - Phantom Echoes: When you use an arcane illusion power and hit a target, you gain combat advantage against that target until the end of your next turn. If the illusion power has an effect that a save can end, you instead gain combat advantage against the target until it saves against that effect.

Free Action: As both Owlbear Madowl and Owlbear Hunter #2 are now granting Combat Advantage to Lilli, then their saving throws will be penalised by -2 due to the Property of Lilli's Illusionist's Gloves.

Illusionist's Gloves (Daily Free Action )
Effect: Property: When you hit an enemy granting combat advantage to you with an Illusion attack power, that enemy takes a -2 penalty to saving throws against the power's effects.
