"Hmmm....the Badger had all sorts of ne'er-do-wells, that just might have happened on the information we seek, although I'm also not confident they are the most trustworthy either." Vok replies, "Ah well, if they're lying, we'll deal with them. To the Badger" he says.

"To the Badger then!" Crush turns to Ryk, Bellegon, and Rikka, and says, "Let's reconvene here at nightfall, and pool the information we've gathered."

The warforged then follows Vok out of the office and over to the Badger, at which point he splits off and begins conversing with patrons to see if he can turn up anything interesting.

[sblock="Actions and Skill Checks"]Crush will try to ingratiate himself with bar patrons who seem like they're just at the point where tongues begin to loosen, but not so besotten as to slur their speech, or make no sense. He will spend up to 4 gp buying drinks for anyone he deems likely to talk.

Rolls -
Streetwise: 16 to identify likely candidates to talk to.
Diplomacy: 22 to make nice and see if anyone will spill some info.

Crush will be on the lookout as best he can for anyone feeding him false information just to score some free drinks. If anyone gets nasty with him, his temper will flare a little bit, and he'll fall back on his old military tricks and try to scare the bejesus out of them (maybe even try to scare some info out of them).

not knowing what the course is going to be, there is little point in random exploring beyond the basic "oh, this is how they make rope bridges here". However, there are likely to be towers, bridges, streets or architecture that stand out; anyone designing a spectacle for a crowd would surely include the Diagonal Drop or the Street of Cloth Dyers! So Ryk and Spring will spend the afternoon looking for interesting features and figuring out how to move up, down or across them. If it looks like they can do so without violating local laws or angering property owners, they will practice these moves, otherwise Ryk will mentally scout how it could be done.

acrobatics 3 rolls: 26, 19, 15. athletics 3 rolls: 13, 23, 26.

At evening they will rendezvous with the party.

Waiting for the others to leave, Bellegon then turns to the gnome. Channeling his connection to the darker aspects beneath the earth, a palpable menace oozes from the drow. Few words are spoken, but it is enough to put the fear into the scribe.

I don't know the course! Not even Master Ballard knows it! We just handling bookings and teams. The nobles don't want us to know! They don't want anyone to know!

Frustrated, Bellegon storms out. He fails to notice the look of cold anger replace the fear on the gnome's face as he leaves.

Shifting from shadow to shadow, the drow spends the afternoon and evening trying to figure out Harrith's Folly. But his frustration grows; it is truly a maze only a madman would understand. He sees no sign of set-up for the race.

Ryk & Rikka

The two outtowners are a bit at a loss at the confusion of ropes, sudden drops, and such. Rikka's asking around returns little; the residents only know the event is coming but now where it starts. Those with tickets tells her that they will be convening in the Hollow Tower. Apparently, House Cannith will be demonstrating some new illusions to paint the race as it happens in the air above their seats!

Ryk and Spring are not hard pressed to find many unusual features within the district. While narrowly crossing a rope bridge made of laundry over a deadly drop, he sees some shifter kids doing the same, playing a game at it. He manages to keep up with them most of the time, though a bad start means the little ones had the advantage. He sees many architectural oddities, but no other indication of where the race may be held at any one point.

Vok & Crush

The Badger is as smoky as ever, and as unwelcoming. But they are receptive to drink. Crush and Vok soon run into the same problem as the others: No one knows where the course will be held. Its believed it'll finish in the Hollow Tower, where some construction had been under-wraps for the past weeks, but not where the majority of it will be held.

Crush does learn about some other teams. Apparently there a group of warforged competing, and some angry groups of gobs if one gap-toothed dwarf it to believed. Vok tells the warforged that he overheard the dwarves mentioning a Cyran team as well.

Reunion

Evening deepens, and all (save perhaps the drow), reconvene.
 

Drow walks out of the shadow nearest his companions as they come together.

that's what he asked of gnome, not only route, but other groups, rules etc...I was hoping for little bit more, but if we need to go in blind so be it.

"So, shall we rest up and prepare for the race? Our efforts were for naught, although we heard that some warforged are entering, which could be difficult as they don't really tire out too easily. Also, there may be goblins out there too, gotta be careful with those shifty basterds around. Where would you like to rest? The Badger?" Vok asks.

"How about near starting point? To minimize the chance of foul play in trying to stop us from arriving. There must be tavern in the vicinity and we might get a chance to know other groups."

"We still need to FIND the starting point, this 'Bloody Wake' that was named," Rikka purred. "No one I spoke to, or heard speak, would say where it is. Perhaps our sponsor knows, or some more persuasive might ask..."
