BAD KARMA
Whenever a character engages in willfully ignorant, foolish, and just plain
stupid activities, that character can be penalized with a point of bad
karma. Whether the character helped the story's antagonist, significantly
harmed party members, or injured and killed innocent bystanders; the DM
should award bad karma if the offense *and* the impact to the story are
great enough. For offenses that require some sort of penalty but do not
warrant bad karma, the DM may declare some or all of a character's karma
pool as "spent".
If the character guarding the party at night decides that 10 minutes after
seeing the story's antagonist slip into the shadows is a good time to take a
nap without securing the documents that will mean the difference between
victory and defeat (once translated), bad karma is almost certain to be
awarded when the antagonist comes to collect his papers and eliminate a few
threats... if the character survives the experience.
Each point of bad karma incurs a -5% penalty to all percentile dice rolls,
and a -1 penalty to all other rolls the character makes. These penalties
last until the first karma pool refresh *after* a karma point is burned to
pay for the bad karma.

So THAT's what they did to the Chaotic Stupid alignment.
