Becoming a Revenant?

Is this the DM's Story? Aka I going to write a novel and the players better follow my plot hammer.
Or a story the players agreed to? Aka The Wizard of Oz with a murder hobo twist. We off to kill the Wizard because because because of all the horrible things he has done.
Or something else?
If you not comfortable tell the DM. And then don't play the revenant if you not comfortable. Just bring in another PC. DMs and players have to remember the story is not preset. The story comes from Jasper's criting the BBEG 4 times in a roll. Then falling down the 6 flights of stairs to his doom due the 6 nats 1.

IIRC, a Revenant is a single-minded Terminator with a magical homing system, a time limit, and infinite lives until then.

Ask your DM how this fits into his plot. (Do you like to wander off on side quests? He may have decided to put a 'plot guardrail' on your character in response.)

Meanwhile, read over - no, study in complete detail - the description of a Revenant; use its powers against whatever the DM puts in your way. Among other things, you no longer need fear Death because it is not permanent. You still have your memories, so you don't have to walk into the same trap twice. You could 'power up' over time; hold back on the top-end abilities at first but bring them into play against tougher foes. Consider the circumstances under which a Revenant forms; you may not have met the required conditions after all. Is it going to help or hurt his plans that your character now MUST drop everything else - no matter how important - and track down the being who is responsible for slaying you?

Also talk with (not at) your DM about finding a magical ritual or something that will bring you from your Revenant status to make you alive again.
