This sort of decision is made all the time in any industry where a product's representation to its market has to be considered simply on the merits of how it relates to the business. It's just par for the course. I, for instance, made my name in this industry producing fan content before I went pro (people still ask me for copies of my Wormwood Netbook, 15 years later), but I still wouldn't want my products appearing in an awards ceremony alongside non-commercial material because it simply isn't a good business decision for oh so many reasons. Most consumers in the market wouldn't see it that way, however, and take it more personally and would merely think the publishers were being bullies or asses.

I'd also put forth that people in the gaming industry may not "blink" if your particular group chooses not to buy from them as a result, but that's not the sum of things. This industry gives its market access to the people who make products like few others. I know many game creators who shoot the

on a daily basis with people they only know as customers. Even if your opinion isn't exactly slashing open their wallet, most publishers still don't want to upset people in their market because they enjoy this relationship. The risk of that getting harmed in this fashion is another reason to simply not risk participating in a mixed award that pits these publishers against "one of our own" from the market's perspective.

I hope that fully clarifies where I'm coming from instead of thinking I'd in anyway justify a publisher trying to push around its market.

Well, if it's someone else, it stands as a good example of why you don't go around distributing someone else's IP without their permission -- you have no control over where it goes or what is done with it, and have no substantial legal recourse to stop others from doing what they want. Because, really ... if Lulu refuses to take it down, what can Don do about it before EA/Bioware sees it? Lulu may be nice and take it down quickly, but from previous experiences trying to get them to remove infringing products, they don't always respond quickly to such requests. Or at all.

Just want to give a massive shoutout for the Interface Zero 2.0 interior art nomination.

If you've actually seen the book, this nomination is richly deserved. My IZ 2.0 hardcover is easily one of my top 3 RPG book purchases of all time. And frankly I'm a bit disappointed it didn't get nominated for best cover art as well!

Dahak - Your continued ambiguous non-boycott boycott is passive aggressive as it gets. Either say who it is or quit bringing it up surprised people pay attention to it.

This is worse than vague booking.
