I've PM'ed some players from a few games I play in, and a few have answered, woohoo.

So guys, you can either take over an existing character that isn't played anymore (brutis, kincaid or rat), up to the point where you have finished reading up on the rules, making a char and such, or you can wait till your own char is done and I'll try to write you in on the action whenever I get the chance.

As for background : the universe is a big place, we're near a starport, and I haven't defined too much of the planet/sector we're on yet, so you can pretty much go as you please. I do tend to use your background against you

You're free to read the whole story, including the OOC and private posts, you're all big boys or girls.

Hey Jemal, Shayuri, jkason. You've just failed a fear check. It's not that bad unless you fail by more then 30 in which case it's starting to get a little painful. If you totally blow your roll things might get a little nasty, possibly resulting in injuries or permanent stat damage. Luckily the Emperor watches over you, and you have a thing called faith points. They refresh every chapter, and you can use them for a lot of things, including rerolling a dice roll once. That might not be unwise for Jemal.

Hmm, I failed by nearly as bad a margin as Jemal too.

Thanks for the info regarding faith points. I don't think I read about them in the book.

Soooo many questions.

I'll try and page through the books, but in short:
If I'm taking over Kinkaid, what kind of character is she? What can she "do"?

Kincaid is an Arbiter. She's got some official status in the Imperium as an enforcer of laws, and is (based on her performance on the train) capable in combat. I don't have details though, unfortunately. I haven't looked at her sheet.

Spot-on. arbites are enforcers of imperial law as opposed to local law. Think of them as swat-officers at low-level, with a fair mix of investigative and combat skills. At higher level they become more like judge dread, and when very high level they have almost unlimited authority planet- or systemwide.
Kincaid hasn't had that much interaction with the rest of the PC's, except for telling McLane he'd get punched if he kept staring at her behind :). She's got a reputation for being violent, something that is common amongst arbites.
It would be nice to have her remain in the party since she's got some leverage as an 'official' cop, which might make things a little less hard later in the game.

Jemal, you need to add your diceroll to the WP test
uh.. isn't a test just roll equal to or under the number? 24 wp = roll 24 or less to succeed, i rolled a 94 = failure by 70. What I miss?

Kincaid hasn't had that much interaction with the rest of the PC's, except for telling McLane he'd get punched if he kept staring at her behind
And providing a behind for him to stare at! mustn't forget that contribution. I know he hasn't. ;)

Including me. Woohoo! :)
Workin' on Trix, who's fleshed out nicely so far. Got a backstory of sorts and all, which I'm sure you will use against me - coz that's what GMs do. ;)
Was thinking about an adept, Just not sure about skill availability for the skills I want.
If so, she'd be the sort of expert whose peculiarities would be overlooked or even appreciated, as she would get called in by the local law enforcement officials to deal with problematic situations in her specialist field.
Running with a standard 400xp starting point?

Jemal : no worries, being the EN-world addict I am I noticed your reply before you added the diceroll. A fear check failed in a non-combat situation by more then 30 will result in your char gaining 1d5 insanity points and having -10 on skill checks while in vicinity of the jewel.

Shayuri (and the rest). They're called Fate points (my bad) rules on p 185 core rulebook. A fear check failed in a non-combat situation by more then 30 will result in your char gaining 1d5 insanity points and having -10 on skill checks while in vicinity of the jewel.

Muggie : starting XP is 900. The group desperately needs some knowledge skills. Especially the forbidden ones :). If there's a skill/talent you want but it's not in your list you might be able to buy it as an elite skill provided you have a 'very' good IC reason and at an inflated XP cost.

Herobizkit :the charsheet for kincaid is not up to date, you have an additional 500 XP to spend. Just put up a copy in the RG.

Shayuri and Jemal : I'll advance the story, you can decide to reroll or not, doesn't matter that much since you won't have more than 10 insanity anyway. Insanity points can be bought off at 100 XP/point and some roleplaying, or you can just keep 'em and have your character become more unhinged :).
