Great googly moogly. I'll totally spend a Fate point for that.

New roll: 41.

Still a fail, but only by 11. I'll take what I can get. :)

lol jemal, I think I know where your next XP will go :p

Don't worry too much, every ten points you have to test a Wp with a -X, the number of insanity points you have. Failure results in your character having various penalties (-10) for hours or days depending on how bad you fail. It's when you get to 40 that you start acting weird permanently.
However, on the plus side, if something has a fear level lower then half the decimals of your insanity you are immune to it :)

And now for something completely different.

I'm completely stoked for Battlefield3 and I'm really glad this is the only game I run, so fear not  However, anyone else playing this game gimme a shout, and I'll try to get your tags :p

It would be logical for Kincaid to keep an eye on Brutis. You don't leave a penal legionnaire running around.
So We'll say Brutis is in a cell and in bureaucratic limbo, being neither in arrest nor released. Kincaid, knowing how things work and calling in a few favors, in kinda lending the kinda prisoner as a personal protection device, earning a few rude remarks and a few relieved looks along the way.

Brutis is a penal legionnaire, his life is forfeit to the emperor. He has deserted once. Normal penalty is being hunted down and be executed by any means possible along with anyone caught helping them. The exception is when there's a mass rout and the army regroups, counterattacks and is victorious, then the survivors are sent to penal legions as a sign of mercy. Another is desertion when mind-controlled by psykers. Then the survivors are mind-scrubbed and used as combat servitors. Imperial Guard. Not for the faint of heart.

Brutis cannot hide he's a penal legionnaire without going about dressed very suspiciously . He's got a barcode tattooed on his forehead along with the word PENAL LEGIONNAIRE. He's also wearing a collar with a little blinking green light. So he needs Kincaid to move about. The armor Kincaid wears is very recognizable. She walks about dressed in Adeptus Arbites combat armor, and is usually given wide berth. They are not the most subtle members of this operative cell.

The adeptus arbites fortress would also be a good place to meet Muggie's character if he/she wants to play an adept who is called in to examine the case. Being a noncombatant she could use a bodyguard so that's an excuse for Kincaid to use if questioned.

How does that sound?

brutis needs to be upgraded XP-wise as well. You get another 500 xp to spend.

Should you get hold of 'The Radicals Handbook' on p56 there's a background package called 'the Penal Legionnaire' which you get for free. As long as a character or NPC controls your explosive collar you can buy these advancements regardless of your level as long as you have the required prerequisites:

Brutis 'belonging' to the new PC works for me. I'd even be okay with a retcon saying he'd always belonged to the new one, and that his new owner had been on the train and experienced all that, just like us. A retcon that would save a lot of time in exposition in other words. :)

Lol, didn't mean it that way. I personally wouldn't do it that way. It would make more sense if Kincaid and the new char were very close friends/relatives/long term close coworkers. It would be a mutual trust thing but a cell always needs people they can trust at various levels to do their job. You'll need a lot of people with specialist skills over the coming time.

I have to admit, I'm a bit overwhelmed with the vastly different rules... I'm most familiar with d20, and haven't played a percent-based sill check system since Palladium's Robotech.
