You can start with all the benefits possible in life and still get hit by a car, when crossing the street. It'll probably be a nice car though.

If you start with a leg-up, you're far more likely to be well above the masses in the future. How well off depends upon what you do with those advantages. You can do what Musk did; a combination of a good start out of the gate and backing the right people who are smarter than you. You can do what the brother in the story did and still end up better off than most. You can do what Trump did and be pretty much where several economists have said he would be, anyway, if he'd just invested the seed money from his father in Blue Chips. The simple truth is that if you win the birth lottery you're going to have a lot more tickets to play in the life lottery.
