Final words...

That aid another actually raises Veyk's score to 15, which is enough to win.

With the help of Veyk and the Silver Flame, Veyk manages to open out your slim lead from fifty to 100 feet. The Emerald Claw is still in pursuit.

Tune in tonight for our next round/episode of "Final Words..."

The chase continues

Much to Kae's displeasure, the driver does not die.
The driver appears happier about it.
The shifter hanging out the side curses, urging the driver on as he pumps his repeating crossbow.

The order is:
Kae
Zook
The bad guys
Bharag/Veyk
Rethlin

Kae is up.

Kae pouts as her skycab pulls out of firing range of the pursuit. Still, their fortunes may yet reverse... she holds her position, ready to fire off a shot if the enemy should come back within range.

Howls of rage come from the skytruck.
The shifter hanging out the side fires two more bolts at you.
(OOC: Dang, the heavy crossbow has an immense range increment.)

Manticore shots (1d20+10-4=24, 1d20+10-4=25)

(Also, ow.)

Both bolts THUD solidly into the back of the skycab and EXPLODE into fireballs.

Under the strain the back of the skycab CRRRAACKKs free and whirls away towards the skytruck, whose driver swears loudly enough to be heard in the skycab as he leaps the skytruck over the wreckage in a fortunate leap. He will be taking a -2 to his pursuit check this round do to his extra maneuver.

Veyk immediately feels a shift in the skycab's handling: he has a -2 penalty on his Handle Animal checks as the magic in the skycab starts to leak into the air, showering sparks, lights, and random conjured animals.

Veyk can drop towards the clouds automatically: at the end of the round, you would then be inside the clouds. The penalty on the Handle Animal check may make it difficult to evade the Emerald Claw, but the concealment would help with the shooting.

Rethlin is up, then Veyk.

The party now has no cover from attacks from the rear.

Handle Animal: 1d20-1=17

Bhalag guides (what's left of) the skycab down towards the clouds, skimming the mist, low enough to give some cover, but without plunging all the way in so that he can still see where in Dolurrh he is going.

Glancing back at the leaking arcane magics, he mutters under his breath, " Please bless this journey, great Traveller, however short, that we might see it to its end with us all still among the living. "

Bhalag, the carriage needs to be all out of the clouds or all in.

You can still make your Handle Animal check even if you're moving slowly -- like, at 10 or 15 feet a round, which gives you some considerable time before you get near anything you could run into.

(obviously because of the lack of maps, minis, and 3d vectors, there's a lot of abstraction going on here: don't apply physics or geography)
