What I am looking for are ideas for special abilities for a pony express/mail & package type carrier. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.

Help with a Prestige Class

There is a Courier PrC in the Fixer/Pointman Class Guide for Spycraft. There's a whole system for chases in that game, so it's not surprising the courier is good at running away

Other abilites that might be addapted is the courier's ability to grant an object extra hardness (he always puts packages where they'll be safe), and at really high levels, he can declare that if his designated special package is stolen or destroyed, he'd actually replaced with a fake, and then he can go get the real package.
If you are talking literally a pony express rider, you might look at Oriental Adventures and Rokugan, as there are some interesting horse-riding prestige classes in there you could gut for abilities. Being able to momentarily increase the speed of a mount, or bonuses to mounted combat checks (avoiding damage) all seem compatible with adventurous mail carriers.

Hey, thanks for the input. What I am trying to do is come up with a Smith & Robards Courrier for Deadlands D20.
