Hiding while Invisible?

In the description of the Spot skill, it says that an invisible character can be noticed with a spot check of DC 20 (plus some modifiers if they apply). How does this work if the invisible character also makes an active attempt to hide and their hide check comes out to be higher that 20 (lets say 25 for example)? If they are sneaking up on a character who makes a spot check of 23, are they noticed? Thanks

This is from memory, but I believe you add +20 to the Spot DC for invisible Hide checks. Check out the Rules of the Game articles on the Wizards website. There are 3-4 dealing w/the topic of invisibility in some depth.

Edit: So the DC in your example would be the Hide check +20, which would be over 40.
