Yaks a big deal in the fertile crescent, Middle East and Arabic mythology? That's a new one, since they're only native (and as far as I know, haven't ever been imported) to a region that's hundreds of miles away.

I thought that was suspicious....not to mention the fact that my knowledge of Mid-East and Arabic mythology doesn't mention Yak 1.....

Yaks are Himalayan things, ne? I must admit to a dearth of my knowledge about the mythology of the area (I just know they're all kind of Buddhist at the moment), but yaks = sleepy asian mountain town in my mind....

Er, some of those are pretty shaky interpretations as animal-X-people. Just having a few features that are similar, such as a rubbery body with tentacles in place of a mouth does not make mindflayers octopus-people, for instance.

Don't quite understand what you are getting at there, but a few years ago if you searched on Furries and Plushies you got two very different things.

Now the word Furry has been hijacked. They even called it that on the Playboy channel (yep, they had plushies on there getting it on, on Night Calls 411, but they called them Furries).

Just like many, many years ago, Pornography was people having sex, not pictures of naked women in Playboy. They hijacked the word.
