Hrynnar Round 2

Hrynnar, in classic dwarven battle stance as well as he can remember, takes the opportunity to think of an insult/battle cry. The best he can think of is:

"You can have the drunk, but if you fight us, you die."

[Combat action: stand ground, prepare to engage lizardmen.]

[Hrynnar's +3 to attack with greataxe, d12+2 damage.]

Geron Ren

Geron says under his breath, "Too bad ... we coulda' really used your help..."

His mind races as he shakes off any fear or lingering doubt that this is for real, this is for keeps.

To no one in particular, "Like our fight against the Rhelmsmen, the Bogarts aren't giving us any choice in the matter, it's fight or die!"

The advance of the 2 Bogarts and the appearance of a mystical badger out of nowhere at an instant brings Geron back into the moment. As if taking a cue from Jak and the badger's attack, Geron springs into action. He advances by tumbling into a flanking position hoping to catch one off-guard and strikes quickly with his shortsword. He shouts out, to the others as he does so, "Thom, back here, away from the other two Bogarts!" as he indicates a defensive position behind their now front rank, "Dalmut, guard our flank and Thom while we quickly finish these two off! Go on the defensive if you have to! Help will be on the way."

[Combat] For round two:

Move action: Tumble to flank one of the Bogarts either Jak or Badger #1. (Tumble [+6])

Standard action: Attack Bogart w/shortsword. [+1 melee w/flanking factored in, damage (1d6-1)+(1d6)]

Hope you all don't think Geron sounded too bossy, if so, I'll back him off.

OOC: Not at all. We're just seeing different combat styles, that's all. To keep things less confusing I'm going to keep my actions basically the same. But, with the following small change:

Move 20' toward the two visible Boggarts
Go total defense (+4 Dodge to AC)

OOC: That should basically establish a new "rear guard" with Dahlmut and Thom. I'm sure I'll get hit by Boggarts next round, so no rush :D

"As good of an idea as any Geron, I'll keep the other two lizards off your back."

ROUND TWO:

Jackobi (+6) 25
Geron (+2) 22
BOGGART A 20
BOGGART B 19
Dalmut (+5) 17
Hrynnar (+2) 13
Thom (+1) 8
BOGGART C 8
Gareth (+1) 7
BOGGART D 3

Jackobi slices at a boggart as the creature charges his position, but misses. Geron leaps forward with surprising agility and brings his own blade to bear. Unfortunately, he misses as well - though the boggart (B) is now directly between the two Argosians.

Boggart (A) charges Hrynnar, his shortspear striking the dwarf's scale mail and skittering harmlessly across its length.

Boggart (B), somewhat nervous now that two enemies flank him, lashes out madly with his own weapon. The head of the bone spear pierces Geron's shoulder (for 4 hp damage).

Dalmut changes facing and waits for the two as-yet hidden boggarts to reveal themselves from the far side of the reed bank.

Hrynnar, his rage increased by the fact the boggarts seemed to give him wide berth, moves forward to near Jakobi and Geron. His axe bites deeply into the same boggart (for 9 hp damage) that had wounded Geron, and ochre blood fountains outward. The boggart remains standing, but appears extremely wounded and more than a little uncertain of himself.

Thom slides forward to be beside Dalmut, who has squared his shoulders to face the two boggarts not yet arrived upon the scene.

A new boggart (C) reveals himself. He's larger than the rest, his skin more gray than green, a moss-like beard dangling from his snout. The beast charges forward even as Thom utters a few arcane words. The creature shakes his head as - for a moment - his eyelids flutter, but whatever the spell - it does not seem to affect him. However, the fourth boggart, who has not yet stepped from behind the reeds, topples forward into view, facedown in the muck, soundly asleep.

Instantly a white-furred badger appears in a ripple of the misty air. The beast scrurries forward and delivers a savage bite to the shin of the bearded boggart, drawing both his attention and his anger. Gareth seems oblivious to this fact, as he already begins to chant once more.

Thom Joffson...

Thom's eyes grow wide, "Hey, this boggart is big. We're gonna need a hand."

Once again he cants arcane words causing a small shield of force to appear before him, then grasps his spear ready to stab whatever comes at him.

[Combat]Round 3
Standard action: Cast shield spell.
Free action: Pray to the gods for help...hehe.

Dahlmut pauses for a moment as he hears Thom chanting a string of harsh syllables and pauses to cast a worried look at the boy, "Thom you'd best not be possessed, we've got enough to worry about as it is." Seeing that the fisherman's eyes are not glowing red or showing other ominous signs, he shrugs before heading forward. As he takes his first few steps he sees the other boggart pass out in the muck. "What a weird day," he puffs as he slowly approaches the lone boggart.

After closing half the distance along the reed wall, Dahlmut pulls up and studies his opponent. "Great," he mutters, "I never caught the biggest fish, but when it's armed lizards I'm suddenly the lucky one."

"Hey lads," he calls over his shoulder, "you might want to finish up yer game with those other two. This one looks serious!"

Move 20' along the reed wall, toward Boggart C.
Ready: Attack with shortspear (+3 bonus) when he comes within range

Hrynnar, Round 3

Hrynnar smiled as his axe wobbled the boggart. It had been his first swing of it in anger since he finished it back at Tillotson's forge, even though he'd been tempted a couple of times to slice Lellard's throat with it, the stinking tyrant. The boggards would take care of him soon, if we left any alive...

Hrynnar now turned his attention to the boggart that had charged him, figuring that Geron and the others could finish the previous one off. Wonder how well he'd do without a weapon...

[Combat action: attack to disarm Boggart A of his short spear, two-handed swing of the greataxe.]

Thom Joffson...

OOC: NCSUCodeMonkey,

Glad you mentioned the harsh language with Thom's casting. The arcane words do sound very harsh. The words have a growling tone to them. Forgot to mention that.

OOC: Heh, glad that worked well. Truth be told I was just searching for an adjective ;)

Geron Ren

The head of the bone spear pierces Geron's shoulder.
Blood streams from his shoulder wound down his arm, Geron's never seen so much blood. The pain quickly subsides, but the pain is taken over by a numbness in his shoulder and arm. Geron realizes his foe remains and is more dangerous than ever. There's no time for respite, no time to pause.

They still have the advantage, the upper hand, Geron shouts, "Jak, let's take him out!" and waits for an opening with which to deal out the final death blow.

[Combat] For round three:

If Boggart B remains standing (Jak hasn't finished him off):
Standard action: Attack Bogart w/shortsword. [+1 melee w/flanking factored in, damage (1d6-1)+(1d6)]

IF Jak took out Boggart B:
Move action: Tumble to flank one of the remaining Bogarts (A or C). (Tumble [+6])
Standard action: Attack Bogart w/shortsword. [+1 melee w/flanking factored in, damage (1d6-1)+(1d6)]
