D&D 4E Importing 4e core assumptions into other settings? advice pls?

The part I liked best about 4E was the cosmology. I really liked moving the Abyss to the the elemental side of things, along with primodials and titans. It just makes so much more sense that way. I'm not using the 4E alignments, so I still have chaotic evil outsiders, just not demons.
