Invisibility Sphere vs. crappy Mass Invisibility

My DM might allow a non-PHB spell... are there any good 6th or 7th level Illusion spells out there? I couldn't find much...

Do you already have Simulacrum and Shadow Walk, or do you dislike them in some way? They are both 7th level.

Mass Invis gets the bump for its military uses, even tohugh most people will not use it for that. What it really sucks compared to is the 7th Level Chained Improved Invis, allowing a good number of people (1/level, plenty for a party) to go invis and stay that way.

Use the Chain Spell feat. It'll make it a 5th level spell (IIRC), and allow the invisibility to effect each target individually, so they can attack at will. The limit is going to be one target/level, but that shouldn't bother you too much at that level.
