Provided that you have a sufficient damage bonus to beat the hardness, use the whip in the right way, AND your GM says that a whip is capable of damaging steel, then yes.

Tie a rust monster to the end of the whip and you're set.


... though I guess that'd make it more of a rust monster flail, now that I think of it.

I voted yes.

Although as a DM I would probably class that under the 'certain attacks can't damage certain objects' clause, it's not a hard and fast rule, and in some circumstances I might not.

I voted yes because as far as I know as long as it overcomes the hardness it would with RAW...


But then there's that whole "logic" and "physics" thing that comes to mind...

But EVERYONE knows neither can be a "valid" argument in D&D...
