All the characters seem to have been created from a 16, 14, 13, 12, 11, 10 point array. If added up using the old method all five are 30 points, as are 3 of the pre-gens from the XP event.
Lurker, I did add them up the old way.
Remember, I dropped the highest scores in each character by 2. In order to get these numbers.
Dragon born, 16,14,13,12,11,10 (30 Points). Dwarf 14,14,14,13,11,10 (28 Points). Half-elf 14,14,14,13,11,10 (28 Points). Halfling 16,14,13,12,11,10 (30 Points). Human 16,13,12,12,11,10 (28 Points.)
So the 2 are 30 point buys, 3 are 28 point buys.
I believe it was mentioned somewhere, though I don't remember the source, but it was stated that we would be using the 28 point buy method. If so, the Dragonborn and Halfling are off.
If you go with the 1-1 method (at least up to 16, not sure about 17 or 18 yet.)
You get..
8=0
9=1
10=2
11=3
12=4
13=5
14=6
15=7
16=8
17=?
18=?
But, in that case then the Dragonborn & the Halfling drop down to 28 point buys each. And everything seems okay. BUT, if you did the same to the human wizard, using that same 1 for 1 his 28 points drops to 26. Meaning the wizard, no matter how you slice is getting the shaft. UNLESS!!
Humans only get a single +2 to any stat. And then it takes on the 16,14,13,12,11,10 build, for 28 points. Which would then indicate it's a 1 for 1 buy ... at least up to 16=8 points. And then, if you did that.. that method 1 for 1 would make him a 28 point buy character.
And it would tell us a bit more. I.e. buy method, at least up to 16's, and that humans only get a single +2 to apply to any stat.
Mind you this is complete conjecture, and not proven. But it does seem to extrapolate out that way.
