Kulan: Knightfall's Crisis in Bluffside Game [IC]

Knightfall

World of Kulan DM
The loremaster starts the spell of anti-magic to free the genie. He looks at the threatening cultists and feels relieved the caster didn't try to affect him. On the other hand, maybe his spell resistance would protect him.

He gets temporarily distracted by trying to identify the spell, faltering in his reading and then completely fumbles it when he sees the boy crumple down.
"We need the caster down!"

In Sylvan to the unicorn
"Keep healing the knight until he rushes away from you or someone else falls. Use your best judgement after that. Do not approach me."
The unicorn moves to the open doorway and touches the dying knight with his magical horn. Healing energy flows through the horn into the young man's chest. The man's eyes open and he gasps in a breath of air. He looks weak as a lion cub.

"There is more wrong with you," the unicorn says to the man in Ticin. "What can I do?"

The knight shakes his head. He cannot understand what the unicorn is saying to him.

"He cannot hear you," Custodio says to the unicorn. "He's deaf. And, he cannot speak."

The magical beast looks down at the knight with concern and then at the Vanquisher cleric. "I think he is more than just wounded. He seems withered. Weak."

Akos cannot hear the conversation on the other side of the room. He's not even sure if the unicorn heard him over the sound of battle. The djinni, the altar, and Sir Tymbeck all block his line of sight. Yet, he sensed the knight's plight after the cleric unleashed his spell.

What's worse, his casting of the scroll goes awry. At first, it seems like the spell fizzles as the scroll is consumed. He gets a mild shock as it turns to dust. Then, the spell flashes into existence, but it isn't centered on him. Instead, the air above the bed next to him begins to shimmer and the spell activates near the bed's headboard. The pillow sitting on the bed is torn apart by the magic and there are soon feathers floating in the air.

The spell hits him and the magic circle. Akos feels his gut twist from the miscast magic, but the discomfort is only momentary. Everything within range of the antimagic field glows with faerie fire. The circle is bisected in half, and for a moment, the genie seems to hang in midair, dangling awkwardly, half free, half trapped.

Then, she falls to the floor within what is left of the circle. She shudders once and then doesn't move. Akos worries that his miscast spell might have killed her. But, then he hears her moan in pain.

OOC: The genie is free but she is stunned until her turn in round 4. Rolling for initiative for her., which has no Dex. bonus added.
Eeldai (djinni) - Initiative: 1D20+4 = [14]+4 = 18

She, Akos, the dead thug, the sword, airborne feathers, and the bed are all affected by a faerie fire spell.

The blasphemy hit Vitas like a truck but the boy’s faith was strong and had little effect.0

It was strange to hear the unicorn speak Ticin and Vitas was dismayed to hear that the Knight was suffering from the after effects of some spell or, more likely, the strength-sapping poison. Nonetheless, he could at least prevent the Knight from dying.

"We need the caster down!"
As Vitas spoke he touched his dagger, Glorious, he could feel it practically trying to jump out of its sheath. 1

“Vinccento, can’t you counter-spell the cleric?”

Vitas turned to the Knight and prayed to Tych that, maybe, the wounds looked worse than they actually were. When the teenager touched the Knight, he could see the wounds weren’t so bad. 2

He gave the Knight a thumbs up and then sprinted past multiple enemies, trusting in the protection of Tych as he dodged and weaved, the dagger dancing in his hand in a defensive maneuver 3

As he moved, he could see the subtle hints of people’s wounds slowly closing. 4

0. Made save vs cleric.
Will save: 1D20+12 = [12]+12 = 24

Rockhorn considers his options. One is obviously to retreat and recover...but that would leave Vincenzo under the barrage. The other is to try and bring down the cultist that hurt him. It is dangerous for both of them, but small trickle of healing he felt from Vitus spell decides it for him.

He goes into full offensive, pushing even sickened pegasus into it. That was a mistake. While the first attack hit solidly, Spritewing almost fell executing his own attack and clipped his rider accidentaly with the wing trying to keep the balance. And that in turn spoiled completely Rockhorns attack. He managed to keep the axe in his hand despite the hit, but the attack opportunity was gone.

He prepares to defend his friend from the counter attack.

"We could use some healing too. You there, bugbear, you seem to have some, give!"
He cannot resist a taunt at the cleric.

“Vincenzo, can’t you counter-spell the cleric?”
Vincenzo glances over his shoulder at the young cleric, then returns his focus to the Loyalist in front of him trying to kill him.

OOC: @ScottDeWar_jr, Vinny could counterspell vs. the bugbear cleric. It would require the use of the Spellcraft skill to identify any spell being cast, which requires a readied action OR the use of dispel magic, which doesn't always work.

While the worst of the knight's wounds heal with Vitus' healing magic, he is still banged up very badly. There are dents in his armour and his arms and neck are covered in cuts and bruises.

As Vitus sprints through multiple enemies, only the soldier menacing Vincenzo is able to react to his movement through the combat zone. The man's will cuts through the cleric of Tyche's spell and he tries to cut through Vitus' chest, but the sword swing isn't precise and Vitus is able to duck the blade just in time.

Rockhorn's first attack is a solid hit, but the man twists his body at the last second to keep it from being a grievous one.

OOC: Your confirm roll was unsuccessful. So, only a regular hit.

Rockhorn is surprised that cleric actually laughs at his joke. The bugbear seems to be relishing this fight.

The thug next to Vitus seems unconcerned with the cleric's presence. Instead, he moves around young cleric through the antimagic field and then towards the open spot between Vitus and Falen. He puts himself in a position right next to the djinni in between the cleric and Falen. He brings up his blade to strike, but then the bugbear cleric admonishes him.

"Your master wants her alive!" the cleric warns.

The thug snarls and swings his sword regardless, but he hits her with the flat of his blade as hard as he can. In her condition, she cannot do anything to block the blow. The weapon hits her in the side of the head and her eyes roll back and she falls unconscious on the floor.

He ignores vitus and grins evilly towards Falen. His body now shines with the faerie fire from Akos miscast spell, even though he is outside the antimagic zone. "Come on hero, do your worst!"

"My turn, Mitrik!"
The other thug says as he takes a step towards Falen and stabs at the half-hobgoblin with his own short sword. Falen is faster, however, and he manages to deflect the attack with his dagger.

OOC: Brelish SF Thug - attack (nonlethal) vs. the genie (prone and stunned): 1D20+5 = [11]+5 = 16 (hit)
1D6+4 = [3]+4 = 7 (nonlethal)
Any character who enters the antimagic zone has the faerie fire attached to them, but it dissipates in 1d4 rounds after they exist the zone. A character is only affected by the faerie fire once.
FF on Thug (rounds): 1D4 = [1] = 1
---
Brelish SF Thug - Flanking attack vs Falen: 1D20+11 = [6]+11 = 17 (miss)
1D6+4 = [2]+4 = 6; 3D6 = [6, 1, 2] = 9

Falen:
Dis-oriented from the telepathic interchange with the Construct, and startled by the thugs closing on him, he steps 5 feet to the SE and attempts to cast Whirling Blade defensively to avoid the proximity of the southern Thug. He chose poorly, as he pushed off too weakly from the Altar, stumbling slightly as he lurched the 5 feet. He drew the BaneVenom weapon and attempted to whisper the spell. His stumble took him mid-whisper, killing the spell in its crib. However, his weapon drawn, he eyed the Thugs carefully, gathering his wits about him. He said nothing, his magical visage blankly staring at the Thugs. He telepathically reached Akos, Vitus, and the others: “Protect Genie and the Deaf Knight. Remove them.”

A moment after the Falen telepathically speaks to the others, the knight picks himself and his weapon up off the floor. The young man isn't doing well. He steps away from the open doorway and silently beckons the unicorn to move into the room to help fight.

The altar, once again, speaks to Falen telpathically. Its voice is barely a whisper. "The knight... the dead mage did something to him. I cannot say what."

Falen gets an image of the dead bearded man lying in front of the door that remains closed. The man is standing and casting a spell from a scroll. The knight kills the man a moment after the wizard finishes the spell on the scroll and it crumbles to dust.

OOC:
@Aust Thale, make a Spellcraft check. No action required.

The thug who'd been on the floor looks towards his dagger on the floor and then the potions on the table. He moves to the table and picks one of them up.

Parch steadies his stance and counterattacks again Rockhorn, but the wily wild dwarf manages to avoid the sword strike.

The Loyalist attacking Vinny shifts his ownstance and tries to take off the Sectarian's head with his blade, but Vinny leans back to avoid it. The man snarls and tries to slam his shield into the Sectarian's face. The move is a clumsy one.

The other Loyalist raises her sword, checks her swing, and tries to cut Custodio's legs out from under him. The Vanquisher cleric sees the move at the last possible moment and blocks the swing with his sword.

OOC: Attack rolls posted to the OOC thread. All misses.

@ScottDeWar_jr, you're up for Vincenzo.

End of Round 3
Falen: Telepathic Communication to Akos, Custodio, Vitus, and Tuck. Falen doesn’t want to distract the fighters. “The Deaf Knight is succumbed to a curse before the loyalist mage went down.

Curses, poison, supernatural…how can one man be the source of all of this…hate? Falen is struck not by Phelix’s cause (the old Guard, Principalities, and Powers aren’t particularly Falen’s cup of tea either), but by the imbalance in it.

Vincenzo casts haste to improve his and his allies odds of defeating the Loyalists.

Custodio swiftly prays to the Purifier. A chessboard pattern appears on the floor momentarily. Time stops and Custodio moves past the female Loyalist to flank her from behind. As time starts again, he uses the magic provided by Vinny to attack the woman three times. His first warhammer swing hits, but she blocks the other two with her shield once she realizes he is behind her.

Tuck moves past Tim to stand in between the Tall Knight and the living altar. He reloads hist crossbow with two bolts and fires at the Loyalist threatening Vincenzo. The bolts hit. Tuck smiles.

Then, he hears Falen's voice in his head. He glances in the direction of the knight. He cannot do anything to help break a curse, so he concentrates on dealing with the enemy.

Custodio hears the telepathic warning about the knight's condition. "So, that's what wrong with him. Why he seems so weak."

A moment later the bugbear cleric begins casting a spell. Custodio braces himself, but instead of a damaging spell, the cleric protects himself. A shroud of darkness envelops the cleric. He's still visible, its just that he is cloaked in a protective field of darkness. Custodio tries to decipher the spell the cleric just cast, be cannot fathom it.
