M4: Under the Volcano [Nimisgod judging] -CONCLUDED

Nurlan manages to charm the second hobgobolin. He relaxes and ushers the group past. "OK." he says in goblin. "Go tell him. Better hurry. We're about ready to leave."

The three guards step aside to allow the party passage, and return their attention to the goblinoid rabble.

Unfortunately, once they pass the guards, they realize they are being observed. The goblins cart the last box on board the boat, and the tall, dark figure of Claudius Causticus is staring right at them, a longsword glinting in his hand. He shouts in goblin [sblock]"Cast off! Now!"[/sblock]

At this point, the boat is tied only to the forward mooring, near a goblin. The goblins wear leather armor and have scimitars sheathed at their waists.

Initiatives:
Rinaldo
Causticus and goblinoids
Ashnar, Tenebrynn, Ogrin, Nurlan, Razh, Hogarth, Eanos

That can be my death, but at least, I'll have tried. "Hogart, use your sound blast on the goblins" tells Rinaldo drawing a javelin while starting to run foward. Just as he arrive next to the goblin, he throws it over there heads, striking the goblin.

[SBLOCK=OOC]Rinaldo is moving 25 feet in direction of the rope, ending at 30 feet of teh goblin standing next to it, which allow a sneak. He then throw his javelin at the goblin next to teh rope and strike with a 22 (maybe modified by cover) and do 2 damage and 10 of sneak[/SBLOCK]

Upon detection, Rinaldo abandons the pretense. He charges forward, drawing back his arm and hurtling his javelin at the goblin nearest the rope. It strikes the flatfooted creature and imbeds in its torso. The goblin totters and falls into the sea. The rope remains wrapped around the pier.

"Hey, don't leave without us!" says one hobgoblin.

"Can't we just work this out?" asks the other. They seem a bit confused.

Causticus leaps over to the end of the boat, and with a single powerful slash of his longsword, he severs the mooring rope. The boat begins to drift away. The goblins remaining on the pier leap onto the boat. All of them draw their scimitars.

Razh knew there was going to be a battle, but he expected to be able to prepare at least a little bit before Causticus noticed the party. More than a little surprised, he fumbles as he draws one of his longswords and moves past the confused dock guards towards Causticus and his goblin gang.

[sblock=OOC: ]Is it permissible to draw both swords as one move action? It seems kind of silly that it takes a whole round to reach to your hips and pull upward. And either the ogre forwent his AoO on Rinaldo or I don't understand those rules, but in any case I believe moving through the ogre's threatened space provokes an AoO.[/sblock]

If you have a base attack bonus of +1 or higher, you may draw a weapon as a free action combined with a regular move. If you have the Two-Weapon Fighting feat, you can draw two light or one-handed weapons in the time it would normally take you to draw one.
You have the feat Two-Weapon Figthing, so yes, you can do it while you do a move action to move (and only to move). In your case, you could run and draw your weapon, and then use the other move action to jump onboard.

Flat-Footed
At the start of a battle, before you have had a chance to act (specifically, before your first regular turn in the initiative order), you are flat-footed. You can’t use your Dexterity bonus to AC (if any) while flat-footed. Barbarians and rogues have the uncanny dodge extraordinary ability, which allows them to avoid losing their Dexterity bonus to AC due to being flat-footed.

A flat-footed character can’t make attacks of opportunity.
The Ogre, being falt-footed, cannot use his attack of opportunity on me, and as he act last, cannot on you either. The hobgoblin won't as they are charmed. At least, I think. And they must not be hot to the idea to protect a man that leave them behind to there death.[/SBLOCK]

The ogre is not hostile until his action. At this point he is flatfooted. The main change from the map now, is that all the goblins (except the dead one) have jumped onto the boat and drawn their scimitars. Anyone could jump onto the boat easily (if they can move that far), but would draw an AoO from one or more goblins doing so.

Suggestion of tactics:

Hogart move foward 30 feet and cast his sound burst on the goblins (and we hope he kills a few, or at least stun them). He aim at group of goblin closest to our group.

Razh move foward 20 feet and draw his weapon and get ready to stop the Ogre in case he want to attack us.

Tenebrynn and Ashnar move foward 30 feet and cast there spell on the remaining goblins and Causticus.

Eanos, Ogrin and Nurlan all move foward and jump into the boat.

That way, we protect our casters, clean as much goblin as possible and have a good group of people inside the boat.

Then come the Ogre turns.

Rinaldo will either help Razh or climb aboard the boat, judging of the need once there.
