Salton City NEEDS Heroes!
The HIVEMIND's Humorous Pulp/Super Heroic OOC Discussion Thread

WARNING: This game is not for the easily offended. It will contain bizarre (and sometimes adult) situations, crude attempts at humor, adult themes, internet memes, satire, and BAD WRONG FUN. In short, this game is guaranteed to offend those with high standards of decency and derailing itself in a magnificent train wreck while poking fun at comic book, super heroic, and reality tv motifs/tropes. In other words, it's going to be a hell of a game.

This game is currently closed to the public.

With that said here is the premise:

Imagine a world with super powers. Now what do you think will happen if some producer picked a groups of random (quirky) crime fighters (and possibly a few villains), forced them to live and fight crime together, and then have their lives taped?

I intend for this game to be as character driven as possible and not focused entirely on combat (although having having a combat power could be useful).

MISC. BACKGROUND INFO:

The game takes place in an alternate reality (of course) where the supernatural/paranormal was known to exist since ancient times. For the most part, this world's history mirrors our own, and it is assumed that the reason why superpowers have not impacted the world on a broad scale is because the strength of various supernatural/paranormal 'power sources' tend to ebb and flow throughout the centuries. Currently, the strength of the paranormal is starting to slowly increase, and even though most 'super powered' individuals have PLs between PL 5 - 8, individuals with powerlevels beyond PL 12 are beginning to appear.

For the most part, the existence of supernatural/paranormal powers became widely known during the late 1960s/1970s. Unfortunately, due to the chaos that resulted from the reveal, most people who display supernatural/paranormal abilities are labeled as being Anarchs. It should be noted that many 'law biding' supernatural/paranormal individuals are called Archons in honor of Archeon, a WWII era Hero who protected various small European towns from Nazi aggression.

Every Reality TV show has a list of questions which the producers asks the show's potential stars. Here are some of the questions the Heroes of Salton City were asked:
[sblock="Salton City Needs Heroes!: Interview Questions"]
1. What do you think is your best ability/talent? How would you to use that ability/talent to change the world?
2. Who or what do you consider to be your worst fear? Why?
3. If you had the chance to save the world or yourself then which would you save if you can not save them both? Why?
4. What is the one thing you want to do, which you are unable to do? What would you do if you had the ability to do that?
5. What was your childhood like? Did you grow up powered? Dream of being a hero? Or were you just a normal, every day kid?
6. Why do you want to appear on Television?
7. How do you see the future of the world when you are old. Is there hope for the world?
8. What would you like to see in this Season of - Needs Heroes!? Anything you wouldn't want to happen?
9. What would you say to those people that accuse you of being vigilantes, and say that the police and government should be the only ones that fight crime?
10. If you had one wish what would it be for and why?
11. Who is someone that inspires you? Who is your personal hero?

Hi!

I'm up for this, but I'm going to need some serious help with putting a character together, particularly as I don't have much time at work at the moment.

So - I want to play a character, but I'm not sure what sort of character to play. So I'll get back to you.

Blackrat

He Who Lurks Beyond The Veil
Heh heh... I'd be up for this... With the Viking Dude! He comes from the Frozen North of Scandinavia and speaks with distinctive swedish accent. His powers include mastery over Ice and lifting heavy things...

His turn on's are Icecream, Buxom Blonde Women and Pillaging.

Turn offs are Big Words, Irish People and Warm Weather...

You've inspired me!

I want to play a Speedster (I've always liked them!) known as Spring-Heeled Jack. His power source is magic - he's effectively an outlawed faerie.

Oh, and he's Irish. :)

Let me guess.. He also dresses in a green suit and has a buckled hat? I sorta figured that someone would go for an Irish after that concept of mine :).

Ginnel

Explorer
Ok I'm after playing a shapeshifter Terrence Vance otherwise known as Telly an English teenager/young man who has the power of shapeshifting but only into TV characters! whether from adverts dramas cartoons whatever :)

I'm thinking into the andrex puppy (small labrador from toilet tissue add) the leprachaun from the lucky charms advert (he would look animated like this) or people like Doctor who or Kit from knight rider.

I've got a copy of the rulebook but its been a while since I've read up on it :D

personality wise wise cracking non stop talking, lots of useless trivia and much spontaneous shape changing while he's talking.
The TV things might be a lot of British references but if the rest of you aren't english in-character then it will all add to the immersion ;)
