Now that's a standard action that in the text of the spell, does not allow you to take any other actions after using the spell. Are there ways around this limit?

Telflammar Shadowlord and Crinthi Shadow Marauder have a class feature called shadowpounce, which specifically allows you to make a full attack after teleporting, even with Dimension Door.
I'll also throw in Swiftblade, which was the first I came to think of after reading about your concept of "moving super fast, trailing afterimages". A gish PrC based on the Haste spell, which over the course of 10 levels allows you to do more and more awesome things, including granting concealment and defense against all kinds of attacks, with the capstone being a time-stop lookalike. A few levels might mix really well with a Jade Phoenix Mage chassis.
