This is specifically regarding the Path of the Kensei feature "Agile Parry"
Agile Parry states: "If you make an unarmed strike as part of the Attack Action on your turn and are holding a Kensei weapon, you can use it to defend yourself if it is a melee weapon. You gain a +2 bonus to AC until the start of your next turn, while the weapon is in your hand and you aren't incapacitated."
Does this mean that a Kensei must be holding a Kensei weapon WHEN he makes that unarmed strike during the Attack Action to trigger Agile Parry, or could he draw a weapon after making the attack? Can he trigger Agile Parry by making an unarmed strike, then drop the weapon (foregoing the bonus AC for the moment) but pick it up again before the end of the Attack Action to "reclaim" the bonus from Agile Parry? If yes would it need to be the SAME weapon or could the Kensei draw a NEW Kensei weapon?
According to Sage Advice, droping a weapon does not count as "interacting with an object/environment" which a character may do once per turn during either their move or (attack) action. Since 5e allows players to split up their Movement between Attacks during their Attack Action, is it possible for a Kensei to hold one weapon, make an unarmed strike triggering Agile Parry, drop that weapon, move, attack a new target, draw a new weapon, and still claim the bonus AC from Agile Parry?
